Theres plenty of talk about possible Hillary Clinton and Jeb Bush campaigns for the White House in 2016, but what about Indiana Republican Gov. Mike Pence?
I'm always humbled and flattered any time I'm mentioned for the highest office in the land, Pence told Chris Wallace on "Fox News Sunday."
"Much of that talk is the result of the progress the people of Indiana have been making, Pence told Wallace. I mean the fact is we have the lowest unemployment rate in the Midwest, we demonstrated the ability to balance our budget, cut taxes even while we invest in expanded educational opportunities and infrastructure."
Pence also has also received some attention for Indiana being the first state in the nation to withdraw from Common Core to write its own academic standards. He makes the case education is a state and local function, and decisions about textbooks and curriculum should be made by parents, teachers, and Indiana schools.

I like Pence. He’s a lot like Scott Walker where he could satisfy both the conservative and RINO bases.
I am a Hoosier, and also like Pence.
But I think he’s unelectable; Indiana just doesn’t carry the weight in a national election.
Yes, better than Jeb, Huckabee, Libertarian Paul, or any other RINO. I think it is give and take with Perry. Some good, some bad.
Cruz or Palin over all of them.
People said the same thing about Arkansas.
I don't know much about Pence but I've always preferred presidential candidates to have gubernatorial experience, regardless of what party they represent. The Office of the Presidency is not a place for on-the-job training (as can be clearly demonstrated).
Pence Ping
Agree with you. Pence is acceptable if we must, Cruz if we can. No one worse than Pence, please.
He has long been the one who I thought would have broad appeal, impeccable conservative credentials - - and thus, can win.
“Mike Pence is a Hard-Core Conservative.

The only thing I saw that is a negative is his support for the Fairy Tax.
I could look part that though because it will never gain enough support to pass.
American Conservative Union rates Paul at 100% conservative.
Heritage rates Paul the third most conservative in the Senate 97%
Club for growth rates Paul 100%
National Right to Life Committee 100%
FreedomWorks 100%
I always liked Mike Pence. I thought he should have run in 2012. He does not seem that hot for the job though.
Any waffling on amnesty is a 0.
I also prefer a governor as job experience. It provides so much more breadth and depth than, say, a community organizer.
As for Clinton, that was an unusual circumstance. He was only the second democrat elected president between 1968 and 2008, a period of forty years. What he had in common with the other democrat was being a governor of a southern state that was seen as “moderate” or even slightly conservative. Northern liberal democrats had no chance, but supposedly conservative southern democrat governors did.
Indiana does not bring that dynamic to the table. We’re just another midwestern state that has only one key difference with the others: We’re smaller. And don’t carry the votes.
He’s s a conservative (and ~could~ be a good candidate), who appeals to both the Tea Party and the GOPe, but I don’t know how much of a fighter he’d be (He did great in Congress), but since then.. a bit disappointing.
Pence is against Common Core. Indiana is also pulling in a lot of businesses from nearby Illinois.
What you describe as a negative (Indiana is a ‘small state’), might just be the very thing that people find attractive about Mike Pence (or Scott Walker).
“People” might find it attractive, but the “Party” does not. And I’m not so sure anymore that the “People” decide primary elections.
But hey, I’m wearing the cynical hat today. Tomorrow I will be full of love for my fellow man. I promise.
I like Pence a LOT better than Walker, whom I do like. Walker is a good business sense guy. He is a strong leader. But, I don’t like his attitude that morals don’t matter. WE ALL KNOW THEY DO MATTER! America is in the mess we are in because of our moral condition, and it cannot hope to turn around until moral issues are addressed and our culture decides to rein in sin. That is the bottom line, really. We might get a really bright new republican leader, but if they are only good at fiscal stuff, they will do no more than just slow the process minimally. If we don’t get a good moral leader that calls on America to be “good” again, we will lose the very next election to one like Obama, or worse.
