New York Knicks executive Larry Johnson has a different take on the racial fire thats recently ignited over Clippers owner Donald Sterling, looking at the broader picture to make his main point: Its high time blacks started their own league, he said.
In a tweet, the former star player wrote: Black people your Focusing on the wrong thing. We should be focusing on having our own, Own team own League! To For Self!!
Its not the first time that Mr. Johnson drew critical attention to the fact that the NBA is headed primarily by white executives and played mostly by black athletes, the New York Post reported. In 1999, he said during the NBA Finals between the Knicks and Spurs that, Weve got a lot of rebellious slaves on this [Knicks] team.
He followed that up with an explanation of his use of the word slaves: We dont go with the mainstream, he said, the New York Post reported.
Mr. Johnson was hired two years ago to help out with Knicks business operations.
He sent his tweet out about the same time the NBA announced it was kicking off an investigation into Mr. Sterling, who allegedly complained to his girlfriend about posting photos of him with black people on her Instagram account.

His solution to racism is more racism?
Let’s not forget a latino league and a greek league and a dutch league................. I’m getting really tired of the whole thing. Lucky for me, I don’t a hoot about b-ball anyway. Even though I know I’m supposed to since the lyin’ king likes it. :>}
Isn’t it already?
NBBA ?
Never heard of it.
because the people excluding whites would be the blacks and by definition blacks can’t be racist because they’re a protected class of perpetual victim status.
Duh! you been living under a rock the last 60 years? Everyone else knows about it.
Bet you didn’t know this either! An all black basketball team is “diverse” of and by its own definition; adding white players to an all black team doesn’t render it diverse because whites aren’t “diverse”.

Why not?
Everything else these days is decided that way.
Don’t criticize Mr. Johnson. Think of ways to get behind this kid, and make it happen.
They’ll create that after the all black swim team. /s
Good. They play a GAME.
Who would want to attend such an event, with members not decided by talent, but by race?
Racists, that’s who!
Don’t watch it now and surely wouldn’t watch that either.
There could be some rule changes. We currently have technical fouls, personal fouls, team fouls, clear path fouls, intentional fouls. They could add Felony Fouls.... for a weapon being involved.
Reduce their audience and THEIR INCOME! I want to see King James be the first to sign on...
Won’t they have to engage in “racial profiling” to form their teams?
Wonderful, and the new league could admit high school graduates so NCAA men’s basketball doesn’t have to deal with the one and doners anymore.
I recently read about one of the NBA stars complaining about how much money Miguel Cabrera makes because he thinks he should make the same.
When you compare the number of games played in an NBA season to the number of games played in an MLB season, the basketball player makes nearly than twice as much. (82 games in an NBA season vs approximately 162 games in an MLB season)
Make a sideshow.
I know it seems whites don’t play, but in Memphis, the whites play more than occasionally. 40% (6 of 15) of the Memphis Grizzlies are white and each played meaningful minutes this season. One regular rotation featured 4 white players.
The Memphis Grizzlies and Memphis Tigers (college) unite blacks and whites in my community in a way nothing else does.
We could have cool team names like the Pittsburgh Crawfords and the New York Black Yankees...
