Meghan McCain, daughter of former Republican presidential candidate and Arizona senator John McCain, was asked by KTAR's Mac & Gaydos Tuesday if she agreed with Bush's viewpoint.
McCain didn't quite go that far, but she offered up some interesting insight as to what they might mean in regards to a possible run at the presidency.
"I understand what he's saying meaning that America is this shining beacon at the top of the hill as Ronald Reagan once said," McCain told KTAR. "I think everyone wants to be an American if you can be, especially if you come from a place with political unrest and you don't have as many opportunities as you have in this country.
"I understand what he's saying. I think it's a very good indicator that he's probably, more than likely running for president."
In McCain's eyes, Bush's candid remarks reflected those of a politician trying to garner the Hispanic vote in the upcoming election.
"Anyone that knows anything about politics knows that George Bush got something like 44 percent of the Hispanic vote when he ran," said McCain. "My father got 37 percent of the Hispanic vote. Mitt Romney got 27 percent. With each election cycle, the Hispanic vote has gone done.
"I think there's no way for a Republican to make a play at the White House until we come up with some kind of comprehensive immigration plan and switch the sort of stereotype that Republicans want to deport everyone."

“switch the sort of stereotype that Republicans want to deport everyone.”
Not true. Ask Boner..
“In McCain’s eyes, Bush’s candid remarks reflected those of a politician trying to garner the Hispanic vote in the upcoming election”
Thank you, Captain Obvious.
I see she just woke up this morning.
Of Mexico?
There are exactly two things I like about Meghan McCain.
Neither of them are ideas.
She’s quick
We only want to deport the ones that broke in illegally.
Meghan, when someone breaks into your house, you security people don’t let them stay, give them scholarships with your money, give them medical care under YOUR healthcare plan, if they have a kid in your bathroom they’re now a legal McCain family member, and let them have your “job”, whatever that may be.
But when they break into our country we treat them like they’ve won the lottery.
Socialists know this unfettered immigration that requires no assimilation and integration destroys nations’ identities and creates balkanized groups that are exploited by socialists in their efforts to destroy countries to remake them into full-blown socialist states.
She just woke up
No one cares but the left cares what she think (if you can call it that), why won’t she STFU?
“I think everyone wants to be an American if you can be...”
This is the kind of dangerous narcissism that too many conservatives subscribe to. Everyone does not want to be an American. Everyone cannot be an American.
This line of thinking sounds like it’s pro-American, but it’s actually the opposite. Americanness is devalued if it’s being given away so cheaply.
It's Spring. Time for critters to crawl out of their holes.
THIS is what passes for thinking in the McCain family?
But will she have shed her pre hybernation fat?
Now, if only Jeb would select Megan as his running mate...
They both irritate me about equally.
As I you know -- listened to her on like -- Larry Cadaver King, I kept thinking about something about which Boortz frequently reminds -- you know -- his male audience: At some point, youll have to try to have a conversation with her. I also kept thinking you know -- that she HAS to be from like California or somewhere until I remembered that you know -- Arizona also has like valleys and stuff and you know really big holes in the ground.
If I am ever accused of breaking a law, I will just claim it was an “act of love.”
We don’t want to deport EVERYONE. Just those in the country illegally.
