Overt acts of obvious racism have been in the news lately. Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy, Frazier Glenn Cross’s anti-semitic shootings in KC and now recent revelations of LA Clippers owner Donald Sterling prohibiting his girlfriend from publicly associating with blacks.
We can count each of these as classic definitions of racism: prejudice against another based on skin color and race.
This classic definition of racism has been said to be behind us, buried in the time of Jim Crow, lynchings and Bull Conner.
We were wrong to ever believe they were “behind us.”
But I’m less concerned about those overt racists who still live among us, and more concerned that we’ll allow the presence of overt Racism in some to insulate us from our own much needed work.
You see, most of us can easily distance ourselves from such overt racism. We are, after all, not racists! They are “those bad ones.” And we are “the good ones.”
I caution us all, starting with myself, from pointing fingers too rapidly.
Instead, I invite us to consider searching for a more nuanced and complete understanding for racism and consider renaming it. If by “racism” we mean only those terrible things said and done by the likes of Cliven, Cross and Sterling, we’re missing the largest portion of the iceberg which haunts us dangerously under the surface....

They are never going to cut it out regarding Bundy. The issue seems to have totally moved to what he said rather than what was being done to him.
And who can we compare Donald Sterling to since he’s a DEMOCRAT
Bundy never said one thing that was racist!!!
That was the whole point.
Now, most Democrats and many "republicans" will cheer when the Bundys are gunned down.
So I guess that Rustler Reid is just like Mohammed Pedro Whitaker, out on a Jihad to rid public lands of historic encumbrances by private individuals.
I am sure all this has gotten Hairy all excited. Now they can concoct some tale to go get him and blame Bundy for them having to do this.
Reid said they were going to get him.
He just used the media to do it.
Another mouth breathing, inbred trailer park, peckerwood Prius driving cracker sounds off on race. I’m talking about the right Rev. Marty Troyer. SPIT!
But the ones accusing everyone of racism realize there is very little real racism where they say it is. So they are trying to create racism in order to justify their accusations.
Well, I hope the media is all that Reid has planned.

I’m more worried about all the overt a..holes like Troyer running their pieholes than I am about Bundy phrasing his beliefs a little clumsily.
Tell that to Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, and Ron Paul who wasted NO time in trashing him and took to NYT piece at face value. They should have known better. Shame on them. I’m particularly pissed because I have defended Beck in the past....but this does it. I cancelled my subscription to The Blaze.
It’s amazing that we’ve come to a point where words are much worse than deeds (killings, knockout game, etc)
If he had praised those welfare cases for sitting on their asses and sucking off the government tit then he would have been racist!!!
It is not the racist we know of, it is the ones we don’t know of that is the problem.
