How does one control the helium market? Isn’t that a gas extracted from the air?
I did not know about the goal stuff. Answers a lot of questions.

No most Helium comes from wells in West Texas
Goes back to FDR and the German Zeppelin program. FDR denied access to our helium resulting in the use by the Germans of hydrogen which resulted in the explosion of the Graf Zeppelin in the US. That pretty destroyed the airship business for a loooong time. We were, I think, the sole producer of helium in commercial amounts in the world at that time, if memory serves. It may not. Let me know. Went hand in hand with FDR’s denial of scrap metal and oil to Japan. These actions had a lot to do with the start of WWII.
Every oil field in the world has outgassing helium - a non-biotic element if ever there was one.
