(LAS VEGAS, KXNT, ASSOCIATED PRESS)–A funeral service was held in NOrth Las Vegas for the man who died at the hands of BLM agents during a skirmish in Red Rock Canyon in February.
The service for D’Andre Berghardt Jr. took place at Nehemiah Ministries Christian Church.
Berghardt was moving from Los Angeles to Las Vegas to begin working with his brother when he was shot and killed Feb. 14.
Jacob Hafter, a lawyer representing the family says that various delays, including the forensic examination of Berghardt’s body, contributed to the delay of the funeral and burial. Hafter says the family still has questions about the circumstances of Berghardt. “If we find the authorities did not handle the situation correctly because of improper training or whatever the case may be, then yes, we will pursue justice through the only system we have in this country, which is our court system”, said Hafter in an interview at the funeral with KXNT.
According to BLM officials, Berghardt made threats to kill and tried to grab a rifle from a Nevada Highway Patrol vehicle before he was shot.

The question no one can answer is why he was walking on this road pulling a roll aboard suitcase, carrying a duffle bag and a sleeping roll. Was there camping further up this road? I'm not familiar with Red Rock Canyon.
I read another article where one of the cyclists said he had seen the guy waving at them as if he was trying to stop them, but they kept going. "I thought about it later after I heard he had been shot. Maybe he just wanted some water."
A lot of unanswered questions!
The state trooper didn’t shoot him. It was the BLM.
As a matter of fact, I contribute to our state sheriffs association because the money goes to education in the law, life saving, etc.

Sorry to distract from the topic of this thread...
Several years ago here in Texas there was a big phone scam going on, where the caller would indicate he represented the State Sheriff’s Assoc. and that they were asking for donations to help in improving/maintaining their training regimine that provided for safer communities, etc., etc.
Enough concerned citizens made inquiries of their local Sheriff’s office about this request for money, when taxpayers’ dollars supposedly paid for such, that the public was officially notified that it was all a scam that was taking advantage of the citizens. The public was told to never donate to such calls and the scam went away.
I watched the video after hearing Cliven Bundy mention it had happened, right up the road from his place he said.
Oh I believe it. Easily. And their dogs, then all the cattle until they killed everything they could.

That seems to be the usual case - make sure the violent perp does not live to dispute the story.

The North Carolina Sheriff’s Association is real.
Even so, we regularly get scammers who call representing some LEO group. It is not hard to spot them.

BTW, since the BLM is a Federal agency, if the FBI had managed to be called (I know, its a stretch, but follow me here), would the request to stop, ID yourself, which is kinda required to do when “requested” by law enforcement...(I say that to make clear that it is in some cases ok to do that to avoid escalating the contact)
It appears the training issue becomes very relevant for agencies NOT accustomed to perform normal “contact” with the population, should be questioned, scrutinized, and the results made extremely public, especially when there is a homicide involved...
Smells pretty bad to me, and the obfuscation, delays, obstruction, by the authorities is very damning...
This is what happens when local jurisdictions allow outside Federal entities to do their work for them...
It looks like they were playing “catch and release then catch again,” or cat and mouse or something, all while getting more hopped up on whatever. I knew too many of these fed goons — couldn’t make it as real cops so hid in the nether desert regions.

Seems we as a nation of laws have lost our teeth since losing the authority to offer “presentments” to the local DA/courts.
Since grand juries are the governments tools to bring charges against anyone and presentments by the people are basically obsolete by design of the government, we the people have little recourse but public pressure-and the media is controlled by the government/ideologues to the point that only at the local level is anything other than the official viewpoint approved for release....
