Armenian Genocide: 99 Years of Remembrance
la fox ^ | Apr 24, 2014 | Araksya Karapetyan

Wednesday April 24th marks the 99th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. That day also marks another year that’s gone by where the Turkish government has not recognized the slaughter of 1.5 million Armenians as a genocide.

...

The Armenian Genocide was one of the most compelling human rights crises of World War I. Many historians talk about how what happened in 1915 perhaps helped inspire Adolf Hitler, three decades later, to carry out the atrocities of World War II. In a speech where Hitler was preparing to invade Poland, he is quoted saying: “Who, after all, speaks of the annihilation of the Armenians?” That quote is still relevant to this day because it highlights the denial of the Armenian Genocide- an enormous crime against humanity.

The denial isn’t just on the part of Turkey. It’s a typical case of Muslims slaughtering Christians which is still going on in the world today. Saying anything less is just a way of allowing it to continue.

My grandmother came to the US from Turkey.

She traveled with an Armenian woman who was coming here also. The woman told her she saw people impaled on sticks. Armenians were crammed into rail cars and sent out into the desert where they were put out of the cars and the trains left them there.

Greeks (like us) and Armenians were shoved out of the country and forced to leave with nothing... and some, like the Armenians, were murdered outright.

It was much worse for the Armenians.

THEY were all wealthy. They had gold, property, etc. They were professors, attorneys, merchants... that’s why the Turks were not satisfied to just deport them.

My grandmother said SOME Turks were humane. They gave the Greeks bread and water on their forced march to the boats. Sometimes they found coins in the bread... it was the exception and not the rule, but it is to the Turk’s credit that some of them felt guilty about what was going on.

that cant be? only Hitler committed genocide in the 20th century...and only to Jewish folk....

and who the heck are the:
Armenians 1.500,000
Pol Pot’s Cambodians 2,000,000
Stalin’s Forced Starvation of the Ukraine(32-33)7,000,000
Mao’s China (58-62)45,000,000 (WOW those Commies)
Castro’s Cuba.... 10s of thousands by firing squad alone

seems only certain groups can claim victimhood....or at least the only ones the news media care about.

In October, 1980, I was at a record collectors’ swap meet in Hollywood when I heard a loud “poof.” I thought it was in the building, but afterwards, I learned that it was a bomb that had detonated a couple blocks away.

A group calling itself “Justice Commandos of the Armenian Genocide” or something like that, had bombed a camera shop owned by an American of Turkish decent. The only casualty was an English tourist who was hit with shrapnel while driving by. This was the closest I had ever come to a terrorist attack.

From 1928 to 1953 in the former Soviet Union and 1949 to 1976 in China, the despotic actions of Josef Stalin and Mao Zedong may have killed somewhere between 99 and 150 million people (depending on the scholar estimate) from mass shootings, labor camps, forced exile, deliberate famine and misguided economic policies. And the toll could have added several million more had Stalin lived just a few more years, since a new major purge in the Soviet Union was starting at the time of his passing in 1953.

And the Left in the USA today celebrate these two despotic leaders....

The local contingent in my town wants us to lower U. S. Flags and raise the Armenian flag on one day per year in observance of this.

I detest what took place with the holocaust also, but I don’t wish to lower our flags and raise Jewish flag of sorts once per year.

I am sorry for whatever took place in their old homeland. It grates me when folks come here and try to get our nation to adopt their former nation’s angst/agenda.

Every year this issue is raised by the locals and they demand some form of recognition.

If this is reasoned, then I suppose we should adopt every single issue that people of different nations have around the world, and designate a day in remembrance. That should leave about one weekend a year for purely American agenda remembrances.

Ah, no thanks...

I remember reading an article in Life Magazine when I was a kid back in the 1950’s. It had pictures of masses of Greeks being driven onto ships in Turkey for deportation.

Back then I didn’t understand it. I understand it very well now. There were Greeks and Armenians and Chaldean Christians living in Asia Minor before any Turk was around there. The Muslims have a long and bloody history - which has continued to the present - of smothering into extinction any religion or race who disagrees with Islam.

Islam is evil.

Thank you for your posts, george76 and MNDude. This piqued my interest as I was under the vague impression that this atrocity was uncontested. I did not know that it was still a plaything for corrupt politicians.

I just finished watching the whole of this:

Every moment of it was fascinating.

Moslem Turks are particularly formidable. They combined the inherent misanthropy of Islam for all unbelievers, with the energy and ruthlessness of steppe people. I like Turks. I am also careful in dealing with them. I always feel like it is a parley.

Funny thing is that they all claim “Cherokee” blood. None of them are or pretend to be from the tribes in my home area: Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara, Assiniboin, Crow, Salish and so on.

Not a Flathead Indian in the bunch, right? Or a white hispanic either, for that matter.

Maybe some few of them have some trace of Cherokee blood. If so, they should show the papers when they make the claim.

The rest are pathetic.

From Brothers Karamazov:
“These Turks took a pleasure in torturing children, too; cutting the unborn child from the mother’s womb, and tossing babies up in the air and catching them on the points of their bayonets before their mothers’ eyes. Doing it before the mothers’ eyes was what gave zest to the amusement. Here is another scene that I thought very interesting. Imagine a trembling mother with her baby in her arms, a circle of invading Turks around her. They’ve planned a diversion: they pet the baby, laugh to make it laugh. They succeed, the baby laughs. At that moment a Turk points a pistol four inches from the baby’s face. The baby laughs with glee, holds out its little hands to the pistol, and he pulls the trigger in the baby’s face and blows out its brains. Artistic, wasn’t it? By the way, Turks are particularly fond of sweet things, they say.”

“And the Left in the USA today celebrate these two despotic leaders....”

If you look at who the Left’s “god” is, these stats wouldn’t surprise you. There’s a bigger tyrant about to come onto the scene who’ll make those two look like Sigfried & Roy.
