Fitzgerald, Jenkins entering primary political clash
Topeka Capital-Journal ^ | Feb 1, 2014 | Tim Carpenter

Congressional candidate newcomer Steve Fitzgerald characterized the handling by Republican leaders of federal policy fights as a frustrating series of defeat and surrender maneuvers.

He expressed contempt for GOP lawmakers moving toward legislation that could deliver amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants.

But the piece of the puzzle motivating him to enter the 2nd Congressional District Republican primary against U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins was a decision by GOP brethren in Washington, D.C., to go along with a reduction in future cost-of-living adjustments for military retirees.

Lynn Jenkins suggested Rubio and the gang were not proposing "all-out amnesty". Like when some confused RINO says "Im against blanket amnesty". We need to go after Boehner's 10 closest allies.

Fitzgerald is a former Green Beret. He’s smart, a great debater, pro-life, and a stalwart conservative. He should be on the national stage.

Jenkins is too liberal for her district. This was the seat that sent Jim Ryun. Time to get someone of similar ideology.

Apparently Fitzgerald announced he intended to run in January. This article is from February.

This is the first I’ve heard of it. Neither poltics1, nor green papers, nor Ourcampaigns has any primary challenger listed for Jenkins. I can find no info more recent than this article.

Ballotpedia.org does list him. They are the only ones, they link to his announcement article from January.

He was a website that mentions nothing about running for Congress and has no campaign events scheduled.

The candidate filing records at the Sec of State website are poor, they list no Republicans, including the incumbents as having filed to run for any of the US House seats. So no help there.

It would not appear that he’s actually running, too bad, he should.

The filing deadline is June 2.

my crazy 5-way New Haven election is over. We lost badly. The re-districting killed us.

The favorite going in ... she beat us by 34 votes. The black church vote failed to come out. A harbinger for a bad November for the DEMS. Also, we made a major push in the lone Republican neighborhood on taxes and Education reform ... they rejected us. The RINO hit back against us with a negative letter and the GOP vote stuck with him. HE got 27% in that voting district, but he got only 8% district-wide. We could not convince the GOPers to vote for us ... the only electable alternative.

In the meantime, the white wealthy leftists united behind the black Progessive AFL-CIO candidate, giving her the winning margin. The whites win even in a heavily=black ghetto. The local black community is split between 2 towns due to the gerrymander and it is impossible to unite them behind one candidate. They will not unite around a candidate from the other town.

Turnout was 5% of the adult population and 15% of the Romney-vs.-Obama figures. Pathetic. I give up ... I will find a GOP primary to work on for the next 3 months.

Well according the article even if everyone who voted for Republican Len Caplan had voted for your guy, he still would have lost the election.

” I will find a GOP primary to work on for the next 3 months.”

I think that is a good idea.

yes, true about the vote for the GOP candidate. We failed on 3 counts:

1. It was impossible to convince the white Republicans to vote for our guy and not the white Republican who got 8%. They just do not think like that. The only way to get that vote was if the Republicans kept their guy off the ballot.

2. The white religious vote stayed home. It is impossible to notify them of the candidate positions on issues, since nobody has a list of who these people are.

3. The black church vote did not come out. Turnout was pathetic. And the lefties control the voting locations. There were serious problems at every polling place except the Progressive DEM one. I tried to go into a polling place at 4pm and the doors were locked. They also moved a polling place and did not mail the info to the voters.

Conclusion: The Progressive whites make up 2% of the district, yet they still win ... by getting their vote out and the opposition is too split up. I think the new Commie will hold that seat for 20 years.

as far as GOP primaries In CT: there are very few for state House. 2 years ago there were none. The GOP state party settles these things behind closed doors. THe only place where there really are free elections open to being contested is in the DEM primaries in the cities.

The progressives target any seat held by a DEM that talks like a normal American.

Democracy is dead in Connecticut. Voting with your feet is the way to fight back.
