SALEM, Oregon, April 24, 2014 (LifeSiteNews.com) The Marion County Board of Commissioners announced late Wednesday that they are putting a stop to a waste-to-energy facilitys program that was incinerating aborted babies to produce electricity.
The B.C. Catholics Steve Weatherbe revealed April 21 that the British Columbia government was sending fetal remains to the Covanta Marion waste-to-energy facility to be burned along with other medical waste. The story made national news after LifeSiteNews reported on the revelation Wednesday afternoon.
We are outraged and disgusted that this material could be included in medical waste received at the facility, said Commissioner Janet Carlson in a Wednesday statement.
We did not know this practice was occurring until today. We are taking immediate action and initiating discussions with Covanta Marion to make certain that this type of medical waste is not accepted in the future.
The board says it has called an emergency meeting for Thursday morning at 9:00 a.m. to discuss the issue.
The British Columbia Ministry of Health said in an email to the B.C. Catholic that biomedical waste shipped to the U.S. to be incinerated includes human tissue, such as surgically removed cancerous tissue, amputated limbs, and fetal tissue.
The ministry understands that some is transferred to Oregon. There it is incinerated in a waste-to-energy plant, the email stated.
The ministry said that contractors handling the provinces biomedical waste follow health and safety protocols, as well as federal, provincial, and local regulations.
Kristan Mitchell, executive director of the Oregon Refuse and Recycling Association, told the B.C. Catholic that the biomedical waste likely ends up at the Covanta Marion waste-to-energy facility in Oregon since it is the only facility that uses waste to power the grid. The facility confirmed that it still receives and incinerates B.C. medical waste.
The power facility, located in Brookes just off the I-5, burns waste in two massive boilers at a temperature of about 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The heat transfers into water tubes, which creates steam to drive turbines. The turbines generate electricity.
This news came one month after the remains of more than 15,000 aborted babies were found to have been incinerated, along with other medical waste, to heat and generate power for British hospitals.
Why? If an aborted baby is just tissue, why can't it be burned with all the other tissue?
By merely acknowledging that this is "disgusting", they are implicitly agreeing that these are human beings being burned for energy, meaning they were human beings who were killed for the convenience of others.
Dachau on steroids!
On the local news in Portland last night, the anchor and reporter just couldn’t bring themselves to say the word “abortion”. They kept calling it fetal tissue.
Mercy Lord God...Mercy.
Please change the hearts of man.
Bind up satan dear Lord, bind him that he may not
pervert Your creation in such a way.
Forgive us, forgive us for this sin.
Amen!
So they are disgusted that aborted babies were incinerated, but not disgusted that they were aborted in the first place?
If you were running an incinerator and a customer walked in the door and said, "I have medical waste that needs incineration," would your first question really be "Does that include aborted babies?" Really?
If the invoice is going to an abortion clinic . . .
The article states that the material came from the British Columbia Ministry of Health. Would you assume that was an abortion clinic?
Medial waste consists primarily of sheets, gowns, bandages, tubing, gloves... there is very little in the way of actual biological mass. It comes in a large truck and looks for the most part like dry waste. I doubt that most people receiving such a waste stream would be likely to expect that it included aborted babies.
Yeah... “outraged,” I’m sure.
Let me guess... “shocked, I tell you” will be next.
Up until now... perhaps not. Going forward ... YES!
I couldn’t agree more...
Maybe the oregoonians can now find a better use so they aren’t so outraged. Probably, they will grind them children’s bodies up and use them for fertilizer? You just never know with these LIB ghouls.

They are sub-human monsters; killers without conscience; defective units.
To pretend otherwise is dishonest
For any country that has subsidized medicine where abortion is legal, you can assume you are burning dead kids if you are taking medical waste from them. That’s easy.
It’s much more efficient than the 1940’s. They likely use something called a rotary kiln/furnace which can run at a steady state volumetric rate. You can feed most anything in regardless of the moisture/fluid content as the heat will evaporate the fluids. Ash falls out the other end of the process. Material can be brought in on a conveyor belt and ash falls out carried away on another belt.
Would that include geriatric homes, drop-in clinics, and physical therapy centers too? All you are proving is that you don't know much about the medical waste stream. I used to work in the medical device business and know for a fact that such would not be an assumption. In general, the waste streams from a hospital are wet and dry. One does not assume that there is much in the way of body parts in a typical medical waste stream. No way. This is an unusual situation and not something to be expected.
So, now what will they do with the aborted babies?
