NBCs Meet the Press has fallen to such ratings lows that network brass ordered psychological research of the host David Gregory and his family, in a bid to make him more likable.
Friends of Gregory and even his wife were interviewed by a psychologist commissioned by NBC to find out how the host of the flagship Sunday morning show might relate to audiences better.
The Washington Post reported, Last year, the network undertook an unusual assessment of the 43-year-old journalist, commissioning a psychological consultant to interview his friends and even his wife.
The idea, according to a network spokeswoman, Meghan Pianta, was to get perspective and insight from people who know him best. But the research project struck some at NBC as odd, given that Gregory has been employed there for nearly 20 years.
The days of Meet the Press ruling Sunday mornings seem a long time ago now it is in third place.

The story almost reads like satire. Gregory is just not likeable, and I doubt anything can be done about it.
For example, take Susan Rice coming on all of the Sunday shows right after Benghazi to insist the attack was a spontaneous uprising due to an obscure American Youtube video that supposedly defamed Islam. She was very insistent; we all watched it.
Yet just a year or so later, she was invited back without any reprimand or even focusing on that lie for at least some of her interview. Image, just for a moment, if it was Condoleezza Rice instead of Susan Rice. Gregory would have pitched a fit.
And for anyone that says Russert was fair minded... Well, maybe compared to Gregory, but he was anything but fair to conservatives. We used to joke about Russert’s body language. When interviewing Republicans Russert would actually scowl, lean forward, tensely gripping the interview notes with both hands. When interviewing a democrat, Russert would smile, lean back, and spread his arms wide.
Gregory and NBC, going back decades, are the propaganda organ of the DNC. MSNBC just infects them more and quicker.
* George W. Bush's nickname for Gregory.
Meghan piñata.
For years we have been calling the show “Meet the Depressed.”
Now I know why.

He called into Imus (yeah, I know... I know...)a couple years back from somewhere overseas, and I swear he was stoned.
Why spend all that time and money with the psychological study? Instead just fire him. Isn't that the norm in TV or radio when a host's ratings are lousy?
I suppose Mark Levin is pretty much on target when he calls the show "Meet the Depressed."
That is a pretty misleading headline LOL.
I believe Sarah Palin nailed this. “You can put lipstick on a pig...”
That was Rush Limbaugh who deemed it “Meet the Depressed.”
Folks, this isn’t about Gregory or ratings or anything else. This is a clear message to liberals that they will step up their game or Soviet tactics will be employed against them along with conservatives.
Let us never forget that psych issues were the preferred method of gaining compliance with the Communists when they didn’t want to just shoot someone.
Liberals do all things in increment. When you break down their strategies and tactic from the homosexual issue to global warming, it is all a step by step methodical process that you can set an atomic clock by. This is one such step. The next WILL be permanent removal in a fairly open manner.
History does not lie. It repeats.
Saw him, up close and personal, in an ice cream shop, on Nantucket. He’s very tall but pasty looking and has a terribly pock marked face. The wife is no beauty either.
What about Bob?
Just change the name of the show to , “Meet The Phoney Press”
I think he's always had a "beard" and probably a fine "family", but I always felt he was, well, "queer". Could be wrong, but, just saying...
FMCDH(BITS)
Whose his audience?
My husband. :-((( And other than CBS he watches the golf channel.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I had no idea he was so young.
