per Fox 13:
An FBI spokesman said Angilau came very close to the witness when he was shot several times in the chest by a U.S. Marshal.
Angilau was breathing when he was removed from the courthouse, but his present condition is unknown.
Hopefully it was a fatal shooting.
I was present one time in a new magistrate’s chambers as he decided to have a bail hearing there rather than in a court room. The defendant reached across the desk and tried to pull a pen out of his hand (to write a note to himself not to stab the magistrate). The marshall was a bit slow on the take so I had to tackle him, a mid level OC thug. From that point on, the magistrate had all hearings in the courtroom wherein he was secured behind the bench and with a lot of space between him and the defendants! Just because these defendants are in custody does not make them any less dangerous, especially today where no one seems to have any bit of decorum. I am glad this marshall was quick on the take.
Siale Angilau??
Another wonderful immigrant thrown into our laps by the Federal Government?
Awesome....more Celebrate Diversity/Makes Us Stronger
Yes, that will the the immediate fake narrative, which will linger on even after it turns out to be a crazed leftist.
The Left knows how to play the game by laying out the lies as foundations. *
Tea Party's fault on the front page. 24 hour coverage for days blaming us. Retraction on page 23 of Parade Magazine among the ads of the Sunday edition and no mention that it was NOT a TEA Party member on Network TV.
Seems like people might be onto the Soviet and/or Gobbells style of reporting from the major leftist Networks by now.
Don't feel bad, I do it all the time.
Interesting. When I lived in NYC, I was always afraid of getting on one of those juries for a RICO case. Actually, on one low- level street gang trial, the family of the creep sat in the courtroom and stared fixedly at us throughout the trial. And a friend was on a trial where the family and friends of the creep verbally hissed threats at the jurors.
This ain’t the Salt Lake I remember. It used to be the most boring place on earth, when I was a kid.
Would be interesting to write code with variable names like RICO, RINO, REID, etc., arranged to give secondary meanings.
REID=100*RICO
BO=IQ/infinity
Would be PITA to debug.
My appreciation for the information.
Sigh. Yup.
FBI spokesman Mark Dressen said Siale Angilau, an alleged member of the Tongan Crip gang, was shot at least once in the chest.
“During the trial this morning the defendant went after, engaged the witness stand, and when he engaged the witness at the witness stand, he was shot by the U.S. Marshals Service,” Dressen said. said.
“From what I understand, the defendant may have grabbed a pen or a pencil and charged the witness stand at that time,” he said.
Angilau, 25, was on trial on racketeering charges in the courtroom of U.S. District Court Judge Tena Campbell. Along with a string of robberies and assaults of local store clerks, the 6-foot-3, 260-pound Angilau also was accused of assaulting two federal officers and brandishing a firearm.
Gangbanger shot trying to attack witness in Utah courtroom: authorities
Siale Angilau believed to be a member of the Tongan Crips apparently charged the witness inside the federal courthouse in Salt Lake City just before a US Marshal opened fire shortly before 10 a.m., according to officials. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but his condition was not immediately released.
Angilau, who is accused of shooting two deputy U.S. Marshals in 2007, was hit multiple times in the chest, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.
Siale Angilau
Police say during a nine-month period, a group of people had been holding up fast-food restaurants and stores across the valley in aggressive, takeover-style robberies.
The men are suspected in at least 12 violent robberies between July 24, 2007, and March 21, 2008. During one robbery for beer at a 7-Eleven, a clerk was shot and critically injured.
Salt Lake Police Chief Chris Burbank said the group made sure to hit businesses in different cities across the valley and to target out-of-the-way businesses to avoid too much police attention.
After the shooting, a group of marshals continued to hold Angilau at gunpoint near the jury box.
The court has met with the jury and observed that most of the jury members are visibly shaken and upset by this episode, the judge wrote, adding, The court finds that this occurrence in the courtroom would so prejudice Mr. Angilau as to deprive him of a fair trial. The court hereby declares a mistrial.

So the perp brought a pen to a gun fight, huh?
He went to South High and he was talking about the Gang culture in the 50’s. He said that they had fights but the worst that happened is that someone lost a tooth or two, he was a jock and a real big guy, no one ever got stabbed.
The other was when he and my Uncle made some home brewed beer and my Uncle got hammered, shocking when you consider his Grandfather was called to the house of Patriarchs, and drove his motor cycle up the side of their Dutch Colonial House.
My Grandfather fixed it and my old man took him for a ride down Capitol Hill, scared the hell out of Grandpa and he swore if it broke it would stay broke.

And... I ‘ll put one of yours in the morgue, you’ll put one of mine in writing class?
more from the Salt Lake Tribune:
Cardwell, said he was in the gallery because he was waiting to hear testimony by his mother, Sandra Keyser, who was the victim of a robbery committed by the defendant in 2002, when Angilau was 14 years old.
Cardwell said the marshal fired eight shots and the defendant fell to the floor.
“I thought, when is he going to stop shooting,” Cardwell recalled.
The officer then fired a couple more shots at the defendant after he had fallen, Cardwell said.
Cardwell said courtroom spectators were ordered to get down, and everyone got underneath the benches.
The witness who was attacked was a jail or prison inmate, by the look of his clothing, Cardwell said.
The witness was testifying about “specific details of the gang, how the gang works,” when Angilau attacked him.
