OKLAHOMA - A dispute over land in Nevada between rancher Cliven Bundy and the Federal Government began decades ago.
Bundy says his familys cattle have grazed on the land without interference since 1870.
The Bureau of Land Management says Bundy hadnt paid his grazing fees since 1993, owing the government more than 1 million dollars.
The B.L.M. says Bundy was allowing his cattle to graze illegally, which triggered a forced round-up of about 400 of Bundys cattle just last week. The cows were later released.
Organizers with the Oklahoma Militia say they have members in Nevada who say Bundys cattle were unlawfully rounded up by the B.L.M.
Militia member Scott Shaw comments on the round-up evidently in America we dont actually own the property anymore, if you ever did.
The round-up sparked an armed standoff, but it wasnt the Bundy family who owns the cattle, it was militia members from across the nation going up against the B.L.M.
Oklahoma Senator Jim Inhofe weighed in on the matter Youve got a bunch of people there trying to take the law into their own hands and they shouldnt be doing that and the bureau of land management is not government-owned, its publicly owned, theres a big difference there. I blame both sides.
Here in Oklahoma, militia members say they have nearly 50,000 volunteers. Members say they are taking Bundys side and fear this governmental practice could spread to the Sooner State.
Scott Shaw says with all of the recent constitutional infringements by the Federal Government, the Oklahoma volunteer militia is ready to take up arms if needed. Its up to the feds, the balls in their court! You can do this legally or if you want to try to do a land grab violently, you can do that, were going to resist you!
Shaw says they havent had to defend Oklahoma from the Feds yet, but says its beginning to become a concern.
Just look around the country they are doing it everywhere. If they can do it in Nevada, they can do it in Colorado, Texas. I mean whats to stop them from coming to Oklahoma? The only thing to stop them is we the people.
Totally agree, folks need to tread with caution here. I’ve read some interviews with “militia-men” (FED planted infiltrators) who were hell bent on opening-fire on BLM folks. You play right into their hand with this type of talk/rhetoric.
Organize, fine....be ready....fine. Let them start this. They are begging for some trigger-happy, hot-headed, militia idiot to instigate a fight so they can throw their entire weight down on the people.
All they need is an excuse.
“The B.L.M. says Bundy was allowing his cattle to graze illegally, which triggered a forced round-up of about 400 of Bundys cattle just last week. The cows were later released.”
Bullish!t.. many of them were wantonly slaughtered and dumped into a pit. Effing liars.
This is public land that's open range that means it's the governments responsibly to fence the cattle out not the Bundys .
People. It’s martial law, not Marshall law.
Europeans are determined to start WWIII
Democrats are determined to start Civil War II
The Obama Media is determined to help them both succeed.
I don’t think the BLM expected what happened. Gov’t agencies are probably busy working on their future plans for such encounters, but the Bundy think took them off their game. I say keep it up.
That is rather short-sighted, Senator. That is true events leading up to the first shot in most wars.
When your colleague and majority leader Reid is calling American citizens “domestic terrorists” just for standing up to an out-of-control government, that only adds gasoline to the flames. Not to mention that Reid and his son have financial interests in the events. Note, Senator, that your colleague makes those incendiary remarks from the well of the Senate, where he is legally protected.
I think getting to where “we” (patriots) want to get (greatl reduced govt footprint) is rather like doing the trim work in a house with a chain saw. Meaning, “it won’t be pretty but the house will, at the end of the day, be trimmed out”.
Bunkerville, like Concord, was opening day.
Who once said “your either part of the problem or the solution”....
Well Inhofe played safe. Blame both sides. Why not just keep quiet like the rest of them?
VERY good point!
Isn’t that how CW I started? (Ft. Sumter)
Absolutely “right on”. This is not by accident, it is the purpose and intent of the Socialist government and those taking advantage of their positions to benefit their desires, rather than the laws.
God help us, direct our actions and protect thy people, America, and all seeking to love their neighbors, in Jesus name, amen
I know that, I was in military intelligence. LOL
Also there's an unwritten code between the ranchers that ,each had their own range they could graze on , separated by a creek, stream, road, some other natural boundary .
And I've been on both sides of the open range laws at different times.
This sounds like treason to me.
If this group were led by a guy named, I dunno, Osama, they would be labeled terrorists hell bent on destroying America
