Why we root for Chelsea Clinton was the latest from the Washington Posts new culture blogger Alyssa Rosenberg. For those of us who were once curly-haired, awkward daughters, Chelsea Clintons arrival on the national stage at age 12 meant years of sympathetic wincing. The barbs directed her way landed on us by proxy, including Rush Limbaughs old family dog joke.
Youngsters might not realize that almost everyone in politics treated Chelsea with deference to her parents throughout the Clinton presidency, which ended when she was 20. The weirdest part is how Rosenberg can complain about Clinton opponents mocking Chelsea instead of the adult Clintons while she talks about 2008 and 2010, when ahem, Chelsea headed into her thirties:

dangit, it had one of those copy/paste scripts that includes the URL.
Does she still receive Secret Service and wondering about Amy Carter as well.
Yeah, just like the kid gloves treatment they gave the Bush, Palin, Ford and Reagan kids. Oh, wait...
In Liberal Land everyone is an eternal adolescent.
So the liars at the Washington Post are bringing up that falsehood again. In reality, it never happened.
Alyssa Rosenberg is the Features Editor for ThinkProgress.org. She is a columnist for the XX Factor at Slate, and a correspondent for TheAtlantic.com. Alyssa grew up in Massachusetts and holds a B.A. in humanities from Yale University. ThinkProgress is a liberal American political blog that "provide[s] a forum that advances progressive ideas and policies". It is an outlet of the Center for American Progress.
The blog is edited by Judd Legum, who founded it in 2005. It was edited by Faiz Shakir from January 2007 to May 2012 when it was announced that he would leave to join Nancy Pelosi's team as Director of New Media.
Zaid Jilani, a former blogger with the left-wing think tank Center for American Progress, explained this week how the Obama administration frequently tries to censor the progressive organizations content when it departs from the White Houses agenda.
The Center for American Progress is a partisan liberal public policy research and advocacy organization. Its website states that the organization is "dedicated to improving the lives of Americans through progressive ideas and action".The Center presents a libera viewpoint on economic issues. It has its headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Its President and chief executive officer is Neera Tanden, who worked for the Obama and Clinton administrations and for Hillary Clintons campaigns. Its first President and chief executive officer was John Podesta, who served as chief of staff to then U.S. President Bill Clinton. Podesta remains with the organization as chairman of the board.
Liars lying liars lies.
I remember that episode of his tv show, though as I recall, he was talking about Bo and mentioned the “White House dog”, then his producer put up a pic of Chelsea. Who knows if Rush was in on it or not.
When it comes to Chelsea jokes, leave it to Senator Johnny “Crash” McCain, in 1998: “Do you know why Chelsea Clinton is so ugly?” he told a handful of GOP-e fat cats. “Because Janet Reno is her father.”
Now, that is funny.
Okay, the last “personal” thing I heard about Chelsea was that her then-pretty-much-new husband had run off and gone skiing or something for apparently the rest of his life? That was years ago. Anyone know what happened in the interim to create this new domestic bliss?
She's on welfare, in other words.
Oh, look! She's such a doting grandmother!
During the Clinton WH era I remember Hillary saying that Chelsea was off limits to the press and apparently so as a 27-year old Chelsea told a 10-year old reporter that she didn’t talk to the press.
The write-up at the link explains what happened. Doesn’t sound like it was intentional to me. And Al Franken’s account of it in his book, which is how most most people are aware of it, is certainly incorrect. BTW, that Franken book is the one book you can count on all liberals having read.
Hate her politics
No, she's so ugly even the guard dog was scared away........
