Rand Paul urges Harry Reid to ‘calm the rhetoric’ on Cliven Bundy

Republican Senator Rand Paul called on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to “calm the rhetoric” on Cliven Bundy, arguing the Nevada senator’s “domestic terrorist” comment was “liable to stir up” the situation and lead to violence.

The Kentucky senator spoke Thursday night with Fox News’ Eric Bolling, who was filling in for Sean Hannity. “Is there any need to call Americans domestic terrorists?” Bolling asked.“No, I think what we should all be calling for is for calmer heads to prevail,” Paul said. “I don’t want to see violence on either side.”

“There is a legitimate constitutional question here about whether the state should be in charge of endangered species or whether the federal government should be,” Paul admitted. “But I don’t think calling people names is going to calm this down.

“How can we logically expect the GOP to turn around our headlong dive into tyranny if they cannot confront open corruption?”

No truer words, Jacquerie. No truer and no more disturbing. You are 100% right. The lack of the GOP confronting the situation can only mean a few things.. they are cowards, they tow the GOP line or they are defending Reid’s position.

That's what Reid is hoping to achieve.

“Reid is psychotic.”

Not to mention the members of the congressional Progressive revolutionary movement who want to “fundamentally transform the United States”.

IMHO

Won't happen. That's like asking Reid to open himself to the myriad issues surrounding him anyone of which could send him to prison for the rest of his life.

"Calm the rhetoric"?

I'd have told the old bastard to STFU or risk getting his ass whipped.

The purpose of the Reid rhetoric IMO is to draw attention away from those myriad issues surrounding him anyone of which could send him to prison <\B>

He can calm the rhetoric by stepping down. I’m sure he has more than enough mob money stashed away to retire.

“Outside of Cruz, Lee, and perhaps a few others”

Rand Paul is the only senator who spoke against Reid.

The others are all cowering in fear.

Feel free to prove me wrong.

Not sure it is working out that way, many people have told me they think he is involved because he is talking like he has an interest in the outcome. If he wanted to take attention away from himself I would think he would keep quiet. Reid is so arrogant and I think he is having a temper tantrum for not getting his own way.

> The endangered species in this situation is Cliven Bundy and the courageous men and women who came to stand with him against coercive bureaucrats. That is the disappearing species in America, and that threatens freedom for everyone

I’m not so sure about that. There has been a HUGE awakening of patriots in the U.S. like never before. When Dems, liberals, lefties, etc. start calling Tea Party Patriots names like domestic terrorists its only because they are scared of them and the power they wield and want to shut them down (while ignoring their own Alinsky tactics and activism saying it is “different”; yeah we’ve heard that one before). The Tea Party stands in the way of their political agendas (raping of the system) and societal re-engineering and they don’t like it one bit. The people have have heard them cry wolf over and over again and their cries are starting to fall on deaf ears as people on both sides of the equation are starting to figure things out for themselves.

Reid’s talking points are the exact same talking points which came from the dems before the OKC bombing and the attempted car bombing in NYC in 2010 which they tried to blame on the TEA Party.

Not only do I believe there is another terrorist attack coming but there is going to be another version of the “spontaneous” lie they tried to concoct with Benghazi.

I think they are going to try and make people believe the terrorist are planning their attacks in 1 of 2 ways.

1, planning an attack in advance and then waiting for just the right time/news story to carry out the attack or 2, picking up on a news story and in a short period of time planning and carrying out the attack as if it’s almost “spontaneous”.

I think what Reid is doing is trying to make people believe 2, the terrorist are simply picking up on what’s in the news and planning and carrying out a terrorist attack around what is in the news as if it’s “spontaneous”.

If the dems can make people believe the terrorist are simply picking up on what is in the news and planning their attacks around what is in the news, instead of the news being orchestrated for the attacks, they will have a nice cover story of what happened in Benghazi and a cover story as to why dems always seem to have their talking points in place before terrorist attacks.

The cover story for Benghazi will be the terrorist simply picked up from the news the dems praising Carter at their convention then the terrorist “spontaneously” planned a repeat of the attack on our embassy just like what happened with Carter.

This was a wimpy pussyfooting statement…..in response to a question. It was pathetic really.

Meanwhile, Cruz was out laying the wood to Obama over the “debate is over” statement…..the contrast is astonishing.

At least George Washington appeared in person to quell the Whiskey Rebellion in 1791. I think the pugnacious Weed, er Reid, should do the same since he views this as an insurrection. FWIW that incident was over basically the same issue: the usurping of power by the central government (here becoming something akin to the central committee of the Communist party) from the states.

Paul gave a weak response

I'll go further than that. Paul gave a deceptive response. One of those DC handlers must've told him his potential supporters side with Bundy, and humor us with some weak statement.

It isn't about an endangered species. Is Rand Paul so uninformed he doesn't know that, or is he deflecting? I don't know which is worse. It's about US citizens being assaulted by federal agents and their property being destroyed, illegally, using court rulings the feds control as an excuse. What happened to the Bundy's is an assault on all of us.

Rand Paul should go on a solitary retreat and figure out just who he is and what he believes in. He is not the same man anymore as the one who eloquently spoke against drones spying on us. He is not the same man who stood by Ted Cruz even when not in 100% agreement with him because it's going to take serious action to turn the US around. Does anyone know who Rand Paul is anymore? Does Rand Paul?

The only land the federal government should ‘own’ and control are, at most, a national park in each state, military bases and the turf federal building sit on. States and American citizens should own the rest. Selling federal lands to American citizens would certainly go a long way to satisfying Obama’s debt problem.

Do we get to pick? My answer. By towing the GOP line they are cowards and appear to be defending the POS Reid’s position.

Paul and others in the Give Over Party should be standing in the well of both houses at the Feral level and State level screaming the abuses. They should be on every network and writing editorials condeming Reid and his words.

BUT mostly crickets and silence so We the Citizen must spread the word
