Andy Barrie recently held a property rights seminar for landowners. Asked what lessons they shared, Ceil Barrie said with teary eyes, "Yeah, don't annoy the government."

I don’t mind the government taking property that they need for whatever reason. However, I believe they should have to pay 3 times the assessed value of the property before they get it.
Does a government employee assess the value?
They were forced to sell it to the County (the County with quite a few ski resorts). According to radio news, they had spent around $80,000 in legal fees. With that and whatever they’d put into the land, they lost quite a bit. Regulations in even some of the most sparsely populated counties on the CO Rockies reflect those of the area many of the people came from: the northeastern states (some after moving to CA first, many more moved directly to CO).
Also according to the radio report, Summit County may trade the property to the Forest Service for another piece of land that’s closer to the ski resort.
That’s Breckenridge, BTW.
I just hope they kept the mineral rights. There is an old mine on the property, and maybe someone decided it is worth something.
They are going after anything in wilderness or less developed areas. This is by design in controlling population imho. Since they have identified law abiding American citizens as “terrorists” because they have guns and enjoy living off the land... they need to curtail the opportunity for this to survive.
