Jimmy Carter Stands Up In Opposition To Keystone XL Pipeline
PoliticusUSA ^ | Keith Brekhus

Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter joined nine other Nobel Peace Laureates in sending a strongly worded letter to President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry, urging them not to approve construction of the Keystone XL Pipeline. The letter opened as follows:

"You stand on the brink of making a choice that will define your legacy on one of the greatest challenges humanity has ever faced – climate change. As you deliberate the Keystone XL tar sands pipeline, you are poised to make a decision that will signal either a dangerous commitment to the status quo, or bold leadership that will inspire millions counting on you to do the right thing for our shared climate. We stand with the 2,000,000 voices who submitted their comments in the national interest determination process rejecting the pipeline and ask you once again to stop Keystone XL."

Read what Carter said. And then think about what he is doing — he is appealing to the King to make a favorable ruling.

By what Law does Carter suggest that Obama has the right to prevent the pipeline from being built?

For a thousand different reasons I've made this vow to myself....if I outlive Jimmah (given the age difference that's highly likely) I'm gonna visit his gravesite once. The visit will last about 30 seconds. When it begins my bladder will be full, when it ends my bladder will be empty. And yes,my pants will be as dry as can be (in case you're expecting an accident)!

If I were to drop dead today, one of the questions I would ask God would be, “Why did a good man like Ronald Reagan have to get Alzheimer’s, go downhill and die, but an idiot like Jimmy Carter, who’s been consistently wrong and stupid all his life, keeps on going?”

Oh, by the way, Jimmy, thanks a lot for giving away the Panama Canal and not supporting the Shah of Iran during the 1979 Islamic takeover. Iran’s been a worldwide scourge ever since.

Jimmah Cahtah single handedly destroyed 95 percent of the small, family owned coal businesses in the US.
He obviously knows more about energy than we do.

........well, with all due respect, those of us (Texans), or most of us, that have any liking at all for the Bushes have “LIMITED” liking for them. To wit: we like 41’s war service, we like 41 and 43’s respect for the military, we believe that unlike the current mob running the country that they are Patriots.

But, we (most of us, or a lot of us!) do not believe either was a good President. 41 lied to us and George W spent us into oblivion! Not a whole lot better than Zero, so far.

And, I would add one personal rub. I don’t like their buddy buddy relationship with the all time non patriot and criminal, BJ Clinton. Whoops, let me correct myself! BJC is now the 2nd fiddle to Zero in criminality and lack of patriotism.

Jimmy Carter is disappointed that Obama is the worst president, so he is trying to keep himself looking worse than The Marxist.

Blomberg and Carter got a special place, it’s not in heaven. More like Satan’s place.

For morbid curiosity, I hope Carter keeps talking. He has never been right yet and I’m curious how long he can keep this improbable streak going. Has anyone ever gone zero for a lifetime?

I hope somebody sent this to James Taranto for his “Best of the Web”, because surely this qualifies as a “bottom story of the day”.

Nothing against your post, don’t take what I said the wrong way, but this is truly a dog bites man story.

...either a dangerous commitment to the status quo,

Since there is no Keystone pipeline now, the status quo would be to prevent it from being built.

or bold leadership that will inspire millions counting on you to do the right thing for our shared climate.

There are already tens of thousands of miles of pipeline all over the country. The Keystone pipeline would have no more an affect on the climate than any of the rest of them do.

Darn I missed 9.

An f-bomb and a scatological reference. It was appropriate to the subject matter, but not one the mods would let stay around for long.

I've said this before, but I think all the posts that get zotted should be put in a thread where those of us that aren't easily offended can read them - I'm sure there are several that are hilarious.
