As far as the original constitutional convention is concerned my post had nothing to do with "Birchers" it is history.

My solution was stated, in essence we are beyond normal political methods to cure our current situation. We are heading towards a great war and the victors will write any Constitution. A people that would elect a creature like the current occupant of the White House are a people beyond reason. I would not trust such a people to amend our constitution. I do not mean to offend or argue with any person, what I have written I believe is coming. God Help Us!

<>Remember the first American convention eliminated the government existing at the time. The delegates to the initial convention were instructed to merely repair the existing Articles of Confederation. As is well known they did not. Commissions and strictures will not control delegates.<>

Let’s start there. The convention did not eliminate the existing government. Congress had no authority whatsoever over the convention. In 1786, VA invited other states to a convention, and by the time congress noticed, seven had promised to send delegates. If, as you think, the convention violated congressional instructions, why did congress forward the constitution to the states for their ratification or rejection?

For future reference, go to Federalist #40, in which Madison lays out why the Constitutional Convention of 1787 was not a runaway convention. Billthedrill and I laid out the prose in such a way that it's easier on the eye.
