This temporary closure is necessary to limit public access, use, and occupancy during an impoundment of illegally grazing cattle to ensure the safety and welfare of the public, contractors, and government employees. The temporary closure decision was approved by the Department of the Interior on March 24, 2014.
DATES: Effective Dates: The temporary closure of public lands will be in effect between March 27, 2014 and May 12, 2014.

The area described contains approximately 578,724 acres in Clark County, Nevada.
The temporary closure will not affect all of the above-described lands, but will instead only encompass those public lands necessary to ensure safe operations and only for the period of time necessary to achieve safety objectives.
The impound operation includes the authorized use of low-flying aircraft to herd and capture cattle from various portions of the Gold Butte, Mormon Mesa, and Bunkerville Flats areas. The area is remote with limited vehicular access over steep, rugged terrain. There will be numerous vehicles and support staff conducting operations in this area, as well as movement of feral cattle that pose a threat to public safety.
Enforcement of the temporary closure by law enforcement personnel will be limited to those geographic areas determined by Incident Command staff, within the overall closure boundary, that need to be closed based on planned and on-going operations to ensure the safety of the public, Federal employees, and contractor personnel.
It is anticipated the impound operations will last approximately 21 days, but could last up to 30 days depending upon weather, location of cattle, success of capture operations, and other variable conditions. The temporary closure may be rescinded prior to May 12, 2014, if impound operations are successfully completed before that date.
Maps of the affected area and other documents associated with this temporary closure are available at the Southern Nevada District Office, 4701 N. Torrey Pines Drive, Las Vegas, NV

Not all public lands within the closure area will be temporarily closed and some closed areas may be reopened during the impound operations if operations have moved to another geographic area. Areas temporarily closed to public access will be posted with signs, barricades, if appropriate, and copies of this temporary closure. Enforcement of the temporary closure by law enforcement personnel will be limited to those geographic areas determined by Incident Command staff, within the overall closure boundary, that need to be closed based on planned and on-going operations to ensure the safety of the public, Federal employees, and contractor personnel.

A media information and interview area will be located at the Intersection of I15 and Toquap Wash (between mile marker 114 and 115). This location will serve as the primary location for media to conduct in-person interviews during the impoundment operations and temporary closure. Staffed times will be flexible based on media interest and return times of media from observation tours.
Within the closure area, escorted media viewing opportunities will be made available for BLM/NPS credentialed media during the impoundment operation. Some freepers think that is just absoulutely peachy. Expressing your first amendment rights where no one else can be exposed to them. And some of those Freepers have conservative sounding Freeper names.
Feral cattle? Really?
I am surprised they didn’t also list “terrorist ranchers”.
The US Gov’t is really out of control
Here’s Gayle’s husband’s cv. He’s a Ph.D. botanist. (His name is Smith. Why his cv is on Harrison’s ASU page, I don’t know.)

Guess who he voted for.
This reminds me of the part in “The Hitch-hikers Guide to the Universe” where the notification for the destruction of the Earth was put up on another planet.

FYI
And aren’t they considerate? They rotate the actual “free speech zone” daily, and to find out where you’re allowed to freely speak, you have to go to a website daily.
One would think they were trying to limit free speech, wouldn’t one?
But...what the hey...courts have ruled that limiting free speech is AOK.
Nothing to see here...move right along
Please notice this closure is in effect until May 12, and then notice the penalties at the bottom of the page.
Also notice that an implementation order was signed on this plan all the way back on March 10, which means it was being staffed, planned, and stored for who knows how long prior to March.
Thread on gov trying to take land in Texas yesterday
Here’s another in Colorado
Maybe I should be careful not to park my (relatively) new F150 super cab on a boundary line. The BLM might need trucks and declare it publicly owned. :>)
Ping.
If they can seize cell phones and destroy them they can seize your truck
When are the lawsuits going to begin? Not that they’d go anywhere I. NV crooked judicial system
For all you Rhode Island Freepers that is almost the area of your entire state.
All of this blocked off just to round up one small business rancher's cattle.
Complete with "Free Speech Zones" located Who knows where for those who think this might be overreach.
Obviously this was going to cost much more than the money that Mr. Bundy allegedly owed to the Federal Government. Probably a 10 Million dollar venture to capture a million dollars (retail) worth of one man's cattle.
You don’t take a man’s truck. He could get mighty mad and demonstrate he isn’t a pushover.
And my cell phone has my grandkids’ pictures inside. I have a deep attachment to my grandkids.
Nice find. Thanks for posting it. I think the land is open now. No thanks to our fearless Republican leadership. What happened the other day is a great case study in how to regain our liberty. We just need to take it.
However, notice that the implementation order says the land is legally closed until May 12. Therefore, penalties apply throughout that period if they feel like applying them.
I've heard of nothing that rescinds any order...only that BLM is leaving the area, but threatening that this is not the end.
