Elijah Cummings was his characteristically restrained self last week when he accused Republicans who voted to hold former IRS official Lois Lerner in contempt of putting themselves on the same page of history books with [Joe] McCarthy.
From the start of the investigations into the IRS targeting of conservative organizations, Cummings has accused Republicans of a witch-hunt. But recently unearthed e-mails highlight his own involvement with the IRS, contradicting his earlier denials.
During hearings back in February, Cummings objected to testimony from the founder and lawyer for True the Vote, a nonprofit dedicated to fighting voter fraud. When attorney Cleta Mitchel said the group was looking into whether Cummings had put her client on the federal radar screen, Cummings called her statement absolutely incorrect and untrue.
Later, the Maryland Democrat also objected when founder Catherine Engelbrecht suggested Cummings had helped spur the IRS investigation...

LOL. I didn’t say they were wrong.
Liberals say Joe McCarthy like it was a bad thing.
I’d be proud to be compared to McCarthy.
The rats describe McCarthy as a nutball and a kook.
They claim that he had no basis in his charges.
Yet they won’t let it go.
Just like the congressman, I think they protest way too much.
Based on all that it would seem that McCarthy got too close to the truth and had to be squashed.
Same tactics are being used here.
Elijah Cummings needs to be brought before the House Ethics committee on charges... Why hasnt this been done?
Maybe Elijah is going to become an FBI snitch like Fat Al Sharpton in order to avoid prosecution.
Newsmax reported: the similarities between questions asked of True the Vote by Cummings staffers and IRS officials at separate junctures strongly suggested inappropriate coordination between Cummings and the IRS.
=================================================== No question---the Cummings/ IRS paper trail of demeaning and subjugating conservatives leads straight to the WH criminals.
Giddy w/ success at winning the WH, the malevolent Chicago criminals had big plans---they started making ominous threats from the getgo.

THE LIKELY SUSPECTS----DEMS STOOP TO CONQUEUR
order IRS to act to save their seats by Alexander Bolton, The Hill, 2/13/14
Senate Democrats facing tough elections this year want the IRS to play a more aggressive role in regulating outside groups expected to spend millions of dollars on their races. In the wake of the IRS targeting scandal, the Democrats are publicly prodding the agency instead of lobbying them directly.
Dems are also careful to say the IRS should treat conservative and liberal groups equally, but theyre concerned about an impending tidal wave of attack ads funded by GOP-allied organizations. Much of the funding for those groups is secret, in contrast to the donations lawmakers collect, which must be reported publicly.
One of the most powerful groups is Americans for Prosperity, funded by the billionaire industrialists Charles and David Koch. It has already spent close to $30 million on ads attacking Democrats this election cycle. If theyre claiming the tax relief, the tax benefit to be a nonprofit for social relief or social justice, then thats what they should be doing, said Sen. Mark Begich (D), who faces a competitive race in Alaska. If its to give them cover so they can do political activity, thats abusing the tax code. And either side."
<><><><>Asked if the IRS should play a more active role policing political advocacy by groups that claim to be focused on social welfare, Sen. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) responded, Absolutely. Both on the left and the right, she said. As taxpayers, we should not be providing a write-off to groups to do political activity, and thats exactly what were doing.
Shaheen called the glut of political spending by self-described social welfare groups that qualify under section 501(c) (4) of the tax code outrageous. Shaheen is in a good position now but could find herself embroiled in a tight campaign if former Sen. Scott Brown (R-Mass) challenges her.<><><><>
Sen. Mark Pryor (Ark.), the most vulnerable Democratic incumbent, said the IRS has jurisdiction over 501(c)(4) groups, as well as charities, which fall under section 5/01(c)(3) of the tax code and sometimes engage in quasi-political activity.
That whole 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4) [issue], those are IRS numbers. It is inherently an internal revenue matter, he said. There are two things you dont want in political money, in the fundraising world and expenditure world. You dont want secret money, and you dont want unlimited money, and thats what we have now. --SNIP-- -
Bump for a correct answer to a semi-rhetorical question...

--SNIP--The House Ways and Means Committee Republicans have not ruled out its inherent contempt authority to arrest former IRS chief Lois Lerner if Eric Holder continues to refuse to act on the panels vote to seek an investigation of Lerner and her role in the IRS targeting scandal.
The Washington Examiner reports, House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) spoke about the committees threat to hold Lerner in contempt: "The Ways and Means Committee, led by Chairman [Dave] Camp [R-Mich.], has conducted a serious and thorough investigation of the IRS, uncovering abuses and criminal acts that should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law."
"As I've said, if Lois Lerner continues to refuse to testify, then the House will hold her in contempt. And we will continue to shine the light on the administration's abusive actions and use every tool at our disposal to expose the truth and ensure the American people get the answers they deserve."
The constitutional inherent contempt authority gives the House power to hold Lerner until a new Congress is convened in January 2015, which could then renew the subpoena if she continues to refuse to testify, though Republicans are not emphasizing that option.
Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) told The Washington Examiner, "I think we'll deal with that, should that occur, but I think this too is an ongoing investigation, and, frankly, for the attorney general to turn a blind eye to this evidence would discredit him greatly.

Time for the FOIA's to start flying thick and fast .... like the time Breitbart mapped out the phone net among the White House, Carville, Begala, and Little Georgie Clintonopoulos over at ABC, where he was pretending to work for Mouse House while working for Slick and Beast.
Are you guys listening, Tucker Carlson and Bill O'Reilly and Emmett Tyrrell? Go get 'em, guys!
