Federal land managers say "escalating tensions" led them to release all 400 or so head of cattle rounded up on public land in southern Nevada from a rancher who has refused to recognize their authority.
"Based on information about conditions on the ground and in consultation with law enforcement, we have made a decision to conclude the cattle gather because of our serious concerns about the safety of employees and members of the public," Kornze said in a statement.
Hundreds of states' rights protesters, including militia members, showed up at corrals outside Mesquite to demand the animals' return to rancher Cliven Bundy. Some protesters were armed with handguns and rifles at the corrals and at an earlier nearby rally.
Las Vegas Police Lt. Dan Zehnder said the showdown was resolved with no injuries and no violence. Clark County Sheriff Doug Gillespie was able to negotiate a resolution after talking with Bundy, he said.

Methinks you are dead on right. But the problem remains. I fully expect the Federals to be back at Mr. Bundy’s ranch on November 5 or very shortly there after. And back with a vengence.

In my Sunday paper the good old Ay & Pee grocery news service (Associated Pimps) has a front page article on higher beef prices (”good news for ranchers”) and it continues just below a USA Today article `Feds end cattle roundup in Nevada’.
The dying fish-wrap media trying to ratchet up animus against the Bundys, as usual a day or two after the dust has settled, from the BLM’s `cattle gather’?
The USA Today article repeats BLM’s Neil Kornze’s lame arguments while simply stating that Bundy “refused to pay fees for the right to graze.”
If you’ve seen that land—desert brush—anyone charging a guy to graze on it should be ashamed. It reminds me of a saying about Texas Longhorns: `After butchering, a pile of horns, bones and hooves, and a bag of jerky.’
In other news, press secretary Jay Carney states that FLOTUS `Moochie’ dropped by his house this morning ... and “ate every scrap”.

In the IRS scandal it's all about Lois Lerner. In the Benghazi scandal it's all about the video, Hillary or anything or anybody but Obama. In the ObamaCare scandal, it's all about Sibelius. We could go on and on citing scandal after scandal in which Obama remains cooly above it all as he flits from vacation to vacation, fund-raiser to fund-raiser, golf course to golf course. And the corrupt media never ties him into ANY scandal that might tarnish his god-like image. It's ALWAYS someone else's fault.
Here, in this almost movie-like Western saga, it's now all about the land-management bureau (and it's director as his background is now starting to come out)......and HARRY REID!
Hairy is and will be the boogie man, wait and see...and AGAIN Obama is above the fray.
Truth is, one phone call from Obama to Hairy would have nipped the whole Bundy persecution in the bud at the beginning. But Obama instinctively knew that if things went wrong at the OK Corral, Hairy would be a useful idiot to keep around as a lightning rod to take the heat.
Lerner, Sibelius, Reid, even Hillary are all going to be thrown under the bus by Obama, some already have been. There will be others. Obama escapes unscathed AGAIN!
