Carson for president backers report $4 million raised, campaign apparatus into place

Conservatives frustrated with the direction of the country think Dr. Ben Carson can change the course by winning the 2016 presidential race.

Now they just have to convince him.

The group, RunBenRun.org, a super PAC, has already raised $4 million toward a Carson bid for the Republican nomination and has collected 200,000 signatures for a petition to get him to join the race.

John Philip Sousa IV, the group’s national chairman, said Tuesday that members are working Carson on an almost daily basis, sending along petition-drive updates and hundreds of “clamorings” for him to run, received through letters, Facebook postings and other forms of communication.

“I don’t’ like the direction in which the county is going,” said Sousa, the great grandson of the late American composer John Philip Sousa, who wrote such iconic songs as “Stars and Stripes Forever” and “Semper Fidelis,” the official march of the U.S. Marine Corps. “Carson doesn’t whine like some other Republicans. He brings a solution to the table.”

Ben is a bright light and I’ve attended his speeches.

His folks were out in force at the Colorado GOP State, CD, and HD Assemblies this weekend.

There are several Cabinet positions I’d love to see him in, but I just don’t believe he’s dynamic enough to win at the top of the ticket.

If it is ever established that Jesus Christ is not running, things will be much better.

Perhaps we will be spared the endless anti Mormon biggotry side show this time.

Why is it that conservatives persist in their quadrennial quest for a black presidential nominee? Colin Powell-how has that worked out for us? Herman Cain-how did that work out? Condoleezza Rice-conservative three days a week and liberal four days a week.

I doubt that many conservatives were in favor of Colin Powell. Condie undoubtedly had some support from conservatives, but it was not overwhelming.

I was a Cain supporter because conservative principles appeared to comprise his core beliefs and he exuded self-assurance. I knew he would not get the nomination because he didn't pay his dues by running for, winning, and successfully carrying out the duties of lesser offices. However, I certainly didn't expect him to be blown away by the first breeze.

Ben Carson is drawing conservative support not because of his race, but because he appears, like Cain did, to be the real thing, as opposed to phony-balonies like Mitt Romney and Newt Gingrich. But again, you need to pay your dues, and the presidency should not be the first office that you seek.

I agree on the amnesty. But the “NYC thing” still bothers me. There is no easy answer.

Fear not !!

Marsha Blackman is coming on to take up where Michelle left off.

There will be the voice of a strong conservative woman

Take some time and listen to him less the racial overtones.

"Overtones"… Let's see, are overtones like… emanations or penumbras… Or maybe they're more like… Insinuations.

Yes that's it, "overtones" is a word we use when we want to insinuate something for which we have not a scrap of evidence.

But it doesn't matter whether you call me flat-out racist because, like Al Sharpton, like Jesse Jackson, like all of the rest you resort to one of the most degraded stratagems of the race baiters: You offer no evidence.

You have been around FreeRepublic for a long time, you should know better.

The allegation is not with out merit. Read your post.

It slurs good black people in an apparent attempt to remove them from consideration because of some of their beliefs.

I made the post to allow you to look at what you wrote in light of the continuous racial allegations made against conservatives.

The fact some blacks are Republican should not be grounds for opposition.

Of course I attempt "to remove [candidates] because of some of their beliefs."

Listen to yourself.

I made the post to allow you to look at what you wrote in light of the continuous racial allegations made against conservatives.

And I made my post to encourage conservatives to look at themselves in the light of a tendency to pander on race.

I wish everyone who says Ted Cruz isn’t qualified to be President would just compare him to Carson.

Well said NBF. Nobody's writing off the entire demographic of blacks as not conceivably containing any true conservatives, but that doesn't exempt them, either, from having their beliefs as conservatives examined, just as we did with Romney.
