A teacher at a private Christian K-12 school in Shreveport, La. has been suspended for allegedly calling a 12-year-old girl a “sassy slut.”
The girl’s parents say the incident happened last week at Evangel Christian Academy School (“Christ-centered excellence!), report local ABC affiliate KTBS. They also allege that other students in the class overheard the insulting statement.
The life science teacher’s six-day suspension includes full pay and benefits.
The unidentified girl’s parents say their daughter has never had discipline problems in the past. They are pretty upset.
“I’m just still numb about what happened and the disciplinary action that the school had taken,” Marteen Mitchell, the girl’s mother, told KTBS.
Mitchell said she doesn’t want the teacher fired. At the same time, she doesn’t think the six-day suspension is adequate punishment.
“No, I don’t think it was fair at all. They initially told me that she would receive one day suspension with pay,” Mitchell told the ABC station. “When I made it back to my job, I received a call from the principal that stated that the situation was serious and they wanted me to know that they would give her five additional days.”
Mitchell added that she would like to receive an apology from either the teacher or officials at Evangel Christian. However, neither has said they are sorry.
Bud Dean, the principal at Evangel Christian, declined to comment on the allegations or the suspension.
You send your kid to a private Christian school….and then you go running your yap to the local media? It’s the MOM who’s the sassy slut……
I’d pull my child out of that school in a heartbeat.

I bet there is more to the story than is being reported.
Perhaps it was over the top to call her a slut, but, it would be interesting to know what happened to precipitate the whole incident.
Let’s see. My child is “insulted”, and rather than take the matter to the school board you go right to the press. Just thinking maybe the girl is a ‘sassy slut’.
Why?
Do you know it’s true?
Did you talk to the principle? Then the school board?

That’s not a suspension; it’s a vacation.
Or how was the remark put, if it was even made?
“Girl, I saw you there flirting your breasts at the boys — you shouldn’t be acting like a sassy slut.”

To which the girl replied, “ Who you callin’ sassy?”
Her lawyer told her that being “numb” will get her more money than being “shocked.”
Not one mention of the incident that the comment stemmed from.
The question that remains to be answered:
IS SHE a sassy slut?
Is she sassy?
Is she a slut?
30 years ago I worked at a hotdog joint, that was about 200 yds from the junior high. There were 3 girls that came in all the time, dressed and made up like 20 year olds. Looking for attention, not realizing at their age, it was the wrong kind of attention.
One girl went to my church. Her parents were probably the wealthiest family in the church.
Not that you would know it by the girls dad.
But the mom was a real "treat". (She eventually ran off with her husbands [now former] best friend)
By the girls look and attitude, back then, I kinda think she would have qualified for the sassy slut comment.
Yeah... it could be a tempest in a teapot. The girl acted up a little, it’s not the end of the world, maybe the teacher even said it in private, but oy vey the devil is poking on both her and her parents to get that pound of flesh.
And the school admins... they sigh and put the teacher on vacation because that’s what their liability insurance recommends (in more worldthink).
But "slut" works just as well.
Its far easier to remove the student and blame the school, than it is to look into ones childs life and correct an issue.

Yeah mountaineer (remember when you got all worked up when I quoted Foghorn Leghorn to ya, calling Henery Hawk “son”) kids can play with fire because they think it’s cute but they have never actually been burned.

BINGO -— I suspect the Mom’s looking for a chance to win a liability lottery settlement. The more I look at this, the smellier it is becoming.
