Militias head to Nevada rancher’s standoff with feds: We’re not ‘afraid to shoot’
Washington Times ^ | April 11, 2014

Posted on 04/11/2014 11:23:53 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Nevada rancher Cliven Bundy’s decades-long battle against the federal government over grazing rights has heated to the point where militia groups have joined in and taken up spots against the feds who’ve circled his land — and talk is, they’re not afraid to open fire.

A spokesman for the one of the militia groups said as much to local 8 News Now: I’m not “afraid to shoot,” he said.

Margaret Houston, Mr. Bundy’s sister and a cancer survivor, said at a town hall gathering this week that the situation “was like a war zone” and that she felt “like I was not in the United States,” The Daily Mail reported. The Las Vegas Review-Journal described it this way: “Serious bloodshed was narrowly avoided,” in a story about how dogs were unleashed on a woman who was pregnant while the rancher’s son was hit with a taser.

On Tuesday, armed Bureau of Land Management agents stormed Mr. Bundy’s property, escalating a court dispute that’s wound for two decades over the rancher’s refusal to pay for grazing fees.

~~snip~~

Now militia groups are on the scene, promising to help the Bundys keep up the fight.

“This is what we do, we provide armed response,” Jim Lordy, with Operation Mutual Aid, told the local broadcast station. “They have guns. We need guns to protect ourselves from the tyrannical government.”

Mr. Lordy also said “many more” militia groups are coming to the site to join in the Bundy family defense.

If true, that indicates to me that they are about to do something they want to keep quiet for as long as they can.

Dear Lord.

apparently DC insiders have given oil drilling permists for the same land...

No, they haven't. They auctioned off some leases for an area over 300 miles away.

This is 2014, not the 90s. For example I know of many motor homes etc, with Satellite INTERNET that can easy do viop, pictures video, etc. There are lot of other methods available of getting information out that do not rely on standard communications.

Bottom line, its inconvenient if they shut down standard communications, but they will not be able to operate in secret anymore.

I always thought the US Marshals office served evictions and seizure orders for the fed courts, but I could be wrong. Maybe they both do or can serve orders as directed by the court?? Someone on here knows for sure.

Well, the Sheriff should send the fed packing if they are abusing their authority, and from what I have seen it seems like it.

I agree the feds legally seem to be in the right as this guy hasn’t paid his user fees... but it really shouldn’t be going the way it is going on the ground.

Something is way off on how this is executing on the ground, and it stinks.

we’ll be seeing “unfinished” past business fueling this.

That's true. I don't think it matters to many whether or not Bundy is right or wrong. They see a man who had the courage of conviction to stand up and fight what he believed was wrong. That's enough for some.

We need to identify these people.

I think it’ll illicit some “I didn’t sign up for this.”

Tell us about Seward’s Folly when you’re forking over $20 for a raw steak, having paid $8 a gallon for gas to get to the store.
And I ain’t just awoofin’. Who thought gas would be $4 @ gallon now? I paid $10 for a strip steak a few days ago, at Aldis.

I don’t know about Nevada, but drive through the Cimarron county, western Oklahoma, and you’ll see Angus grazing right up next to oil rigs.

This is Cloward-Piven: Obama & Co. hate meat and oil, unless it’s Kobe beef or jet fuel for their vacations. Grazing cattle aren’t hurting them, they just want to hurt us.

I don’t think anyone knows the definitive facts, particularly not Dana Loesch. On national TV, she says Bundy made payments to Nevada County; on her blog, she says he made payments to Clark County. That could clearly be a slip of the tongue.

One night on national TV, she says “he says he has an easement; maybe he does.” The next morning in her blog, she writes “Bundy OWNS the water and forage rights to this land. He paid for these rights.”

She doesn’t say what made her switch from “maybe easement” to capital-letters ownership of forage rights overnight.

You’re relying on that blog as definitive?

I wouldn’t call this a riot, film I have seen shows nothing more than a few dozen protesters with nearly as many BLM agents with dogs, guns and tazers.... Hard to buy the mob argument.

This whole thing is being handled horribly on the ground, this should be a non starter, showing up with over 200 officers seems insane out of the gate.

Nevada has some history in bucking the BLM.

For as I can tell in similar shoving matches Nevadans usually win, i.e. Jawbridge Shovel Brigade. Klintoon’s BLM did back down.

Look for nobama’s BLM to back down too.

This is what really squeezes my gut. Why/how can the government send out It’s armed goons like Nazi SS and Gestapo to make a confrontation without going the full public, i.e. court path, to prove their contention along with the real interests of the Nation as well as all back stage, cloaked interests for full public decision. I have no respect for people, man or woman, who cannot separate USA Constitutional rights from the self serving political desires of people like Harry Reid who never put his life on the line for all the money he takes in. I feel proper in making such criticisms as a WWII overseas vet with a brother killed on Okinawa fighting a nation of people who would have had the same control as Reid and his ilk including all the way up to Obama and his enablers such as Jarette.

However, did the guy fight the Gov. when they tried initially to claim the lands?

This guy? No, because the federal government claimed the lands before Cliven Bundy was born.

The feds claimed the need for a grazing contract and the payment of grazing fees in 1934 under the Taylor Grazing Act. That's when the Bundy family signed a grazing contract for, and starting paying grazing fees for, the old Bunkerville allotment.

I recall hearing that the BATFE and FBI have sent agents and SWAT teams to take control of the situation from the BLM.

***************

That was circulating yesterday but I haven’t seen any confirmation of it yet, and I have been looking. I did see some mention of feds filling hotels in the area, but again just rumor.

It’s SWAT procedure before a big op takes off. “Isolate the target”.

If you control the flow of info in and out of your area of operations, you cut out a lot of variables. If things go pear shaped, then you also get to write the story how you see fit without anyone else being able to contradict you...

But in America, you do not start shooting people because you lost an election at the ballot box.

I agree. The cordoned off free speech area, tazing and roughing up peacful protesters and snipers brought out the militias. If the feds got the sheriff to arrest the man none of this would have happened.

Instead they brought in armed thugs and sniper teams.

Argue law all you want. This is not about grazing fees or turtles or court orders. This is Agenda 21 at work, and tyrannical action by Gestapo is what the fight is about.

Holder is currently in contempt of Congress and the Courts. Obama changes the law with a pen and a phone. Dingy Harry went how many years without a budget, in violation of the law and Constitution.

Floyd Ferris had some words for Hank Reardon. That is where we are now. There is no rule of law. We have rule of evil men, with the law used only to punish political enemies. Such a pity so many refuse to see that.

Reclaiming the Buenos Aires National Refuge area would be a better use of federal funds x 101000000000000000000000000. But I underestimate.
