a police officer's greatest nightmare," Interim Sheriff John Scott said at ...
Pretty big nightmare fot the innocent guy they killed too I'd say. Still the "deputies got to go home to their families at night", and that's all that really counts, and the deputies felt really bad about it - not as bad as they'd feel if they were prosecuted for manslaughter as you or I would be, but I guess "We don't know the whole story."
I wonder how long this post will survive before being pulled or moved to chat.
“said the two people shot had “aggressed the deputies.””
they ran out of the building in the unfortunate direction of the police.
thats agression apparently
Oppsie daisy...
I am numb to this. The cops are out of control.
Ridiculous shooting by three officers, all too quick on the trigger. The actual attacker was arrested without a scratch. Ridiculous.
The police can say whatever they want. It will be reported, and used in a court of law. The citizen has no recourse.
We are already in a police state.
Moral of the story. Don’t run to the police for help. You’re safer with criminals than the police
That butterfly is clearly "aggressing" the poor future policeman.
Well, at least the cops made it home safely. That’s the important thing.
I started reading the newspaper in the late ‘50’s. I read all the crime reports which were much more detailed then. They tended to give age, race and profession of everybody involved. The cops shot darned few people. Some of that may have been because everybody had a revolver then. (Remember Manix, Cannon, Hawaii Five-O? Six shooters all.) I know if I only had six shots I’d be darned careful with them. Another element might be those ludicrous Hollywood shoot’em-ups. Hundreds and hundreds of rounds fired to a thumping good rock beat. Fun, fun, fun. Also, my impression of the cops then was they were citizens in uniform, always willing to help. What we have now are under-trained paramilitary troops with delusions of Chuck Norris and Bruce Willis. The ones I’ve dealt with in recent years seem spring-loaded in the rude position. I get the impression they’ve divided the public into us/them.
I’m sure they were high-fiving themselves all night —
Why can’t they just zap em with a long range taser?
We no longer have police officers. We have Monsters in body armor and trained in SWAT.
Oops! My bad. Sorry ‘bout that dude.
Where was the dog in all of this? Seems he got away bullet-free!
I read somewhere about a study of when a private citizen (concealed carry) shoots during a deadly situation vs when law enforcement shoots during a deadly situation. Turns out you/me/we (as bystanders) are far safer when it is the private citizen ending it.
Well-trained, highly-skilled peace officers save the day.
They don’t carry guns to protect you.
