NC SENATE: Most-electable? THE POLLS keep saying NO.

We’ve been told by Pat McCrory, Karl Rove, National Right to Life, and countless members of the drive-by media that Thom Tillis is the most-electable candidate to take on Kay Hagan in November. The problem? THE POLLS.

The RealClearPolitics poll averages show Hagan with an average lead of 0.2 percent over Tillis in a general election matchup. According to RCP, Tillis and fellow Republican Heather Grant perform the worst against Hagan. The latest poll from the Democrat firm Public Policy Polling adds to the mounting pile of evidence discrediting the premise of Thom Tillis’ inevitability.

The poll, released on April 8, ranks the GOP field like this: Tillis 18%, Brannon 15%, Harris 11%, Heather Grant 7%, Ted Alexander 6%, Alex Bradshaw 5%, Jim Snyder 2%, and Edward Kryn 1%. UNDECIDED still leads the field with 34 percent.

PPP’s poll released at the first of March had Brannon and Tillis tied at 14 percent. The poll released in early February had Tillis at 20 percent and Brannon at 13 percent.

We’re seeing an interesting pattern over the last three months. Tillis appears to be sputtering and stalling — despite dumping a ton of money into television advertising. Brannon appears to be gaining slowly. The Heather Grant phenomenon appears to be petering out — to the advantage of the Mark Harris campaign, which has made some gains.

Some of the most interesting news from this most current PPP poll involves the general election head-to-head matchup between Hagan and each member of the GOP field. Jim Snyder ties Hagan. Tillis loses to Hagan by TWO. EVERY OTHER REPUBLICAN — even Alex Bradshaw — beats Hagan in the general election.

I'm voting for Brannon regardless of who the eventual nominee happens to be.

No more Rovian and establishment BS.

I can't stand the smell, no matter how tightly I hold my nose.

Dear friends, the enemies of Thom Tillis are lying! And we're sure they're manipulating the polls to cast doubt on his electability! Our genius Karl Rove, almost managed to get Mitt Romney elected in 2012. With his proven track record in running electable GOP candidates, we are confident that Tillis will beat Kay Hagan hands down in November! Trust us.

I know that Huckabee endorsed Harris. But, I think Harris is probably o.k. even though he was endorsed by a fat, red-neck, RINO, Hillbilly with an ugly wife and fat ugly kids.

He endorsed Harris to try and derail Brannon…as favor to the Rove Tillis machine.

Probably so. I can’t prove it, but I would not be surprised if that was not the reason. But, really; how much clout does the old clown have? Not a whole lot. And, I hope you did get the point that I think the Huckster is a despicable person.

Oh yes, I got your point, and agree. The fact that Harris has gained some ground on Brannon proves my point about some of the social only cons…..and their lack of understanding.

We have something slightly similar going on here in Kentucky. Mitch McConnell is trying to hold off a challenge by Matt Bevin in the primary.

I'm a conservative kind of guy, I have voted for Mitch McConnell in every election he has ever run in. When he started politics as County Judge Executive he was great. He cleaned house, got rid of the graft and cronyism, it was all good. He went to the senate, acted like a true Kentucky conservative. He and Jim Bunning were the best tag team in the Senate, for a while. Something has happened to Mitch. When he sued over McCain Finegold he was at the top of his game, since he lost that battle he seems to have been going down hill.

I am deserting Mitch in the primary. It is a hard thing to do. How cool it would be to have our state represented by the Majority Leader in the Senate.

When Rand Paul ran, we were told how a TEA party guy couldn't win in the general and to not waste our opportunity, well I didn't listen then and Rand Paul is the finest Senator in the Senate. I'm not listening now, I don't have to hold my nose so I won't. Mitch has done a lot of good, a lot but there always has to be an end and this, I hope is it.

McConnell, McCain and others are examples of why the Senate shouldn't be a lifetime career.

They start out well, but whatever foul toxins in the air and water there build up in the body and seemingly can't be flushed out, which is why the Senators themselves must be flushed.

Like Mark Twain said:

"Politicians are like diapers; they need to be changed often and for the same reason."
