Krauthammer Tells Fox Benghazi Is ‘Done’: ‘The Administration Has Won’
Mediaite ^ | 4/10/14 | Evan McMurry

Posted on 04/10/2014 10:23:46 AM PDT by Nachum

Conservative commentator Charles Krauthammer told Special Report with Bret Baier Wednesday night that the window had passed on prosecuting the Obama administration Benghazi, and that the GOP’s disorganzed approach to congressional hearings had let Benghazi as an issue “slip away.”

“Politically speaking the administration has won,” Krauthammer said. “They ran out the clock. If we had had a select committee from the beginning, really had coherent hearings — unlike what we’ve had, which were disjointed hearings, that let all things sort of slip away —we really would have been somewhere. We would have gotten to the bottom of this. But as a political fact, this thing is done.”

“I’m as outraged as everybody about this,” Krauthammer continued. “I just think that as a political issue the country is now tired of it, and to rev it up with a special committee is not going to work. I wish it had happened, and I do think the Republicans in the hearings that they had, which were completely disorganized, let this thing slip away. Sometimes you blow it.”

Exactly. And, obviously, this is at the feet of ODimwit. However . . . the utter ineptitude of Issa and others in investigating this is STUNNING.

Professional politicians and professional political commentators are almost all directly the cause of the problem.

Krauthammer is no exception.

He is like a small insect to me.

He was speaking in political terms....I believe it could well go past 2016....or at least 2014 before anything significant happens.

When did high crimes morph into a political issue?

If they can get away with Benghazi, Lerner certainly walks.

I said the same thing to my father last night. None of Obama's misdeed will be discovered until the man is long a memory.

* When did high crimes morph into a political issue? *

It happened almost at the exact time that patriots were considered to be “racist” because they don’t want illegal invaders stealing jobs from legal Americans during a period of high unemployment.

Charles wants to fit in with the beltway media and Harvard set so OF COURSE he says this.

Since when do the boys on the barricades take orders from ELITES...?

Charles can play his violin as we save the country.

I see him going more liberal lately. That’s enough for me.

I have had my share of disagreements with Dr. K but he is a very astute observer and analyst. He is rarely wrong in his assessments.

And nothing is “DONE” when murder is involved”.

As much as I would like to see the administration prosecuted for such and believe that they are morally responsible for the murder of the Benghazi 4, they did not commit a legal crime. They are guilty of malfeasance and dereliction of duty resulting in the deaths of 4 Americans, but even the best prosecuter would be hard pressed to get a conviction of murder. Diplomatic misconduct would be the only thing that they could be tried on, but according to the Constitution, they are immune (US Const Art 1 Sec 6) unless in the case of felony, which would be a stretch.

With regard to any diplomatic misconduct, Dr. K is correct, the clock has run out. The only thing left would be to go for impeachment AFTER Republicans take the Senate and retain the House.

Watching the communists (D) play the game of politics in DC versus the socialists (R) is like watching the New York Yankees versus the local elementary school baseball teams.

I think Krauthammer is an optimist in that he has some vestiges of expectation for the political process. Put a fork in it, it is done. I do not want that o be the case, but is it is the case nevertheless. When 60% of the nation is witless leeches, there is not hope of a resolution “working within the system.”

Republicans "blow it" as a matter a principle. As the right half of the Uniparty, they can't help themselves.

Krauthammer’s opinion should have been kept to himself out of respect for the families of the dead. The matter isn't that simple. Whether he's right or wrong, to the families, it's not that easily dismissed.

The Republicans should have continually had the families of those murdered go up and demand investigations.

Republicans have not been coherent on the problem.

Too busy attacking each other.

Or there are other bigger fish to fry. The skillet is heating the grease to fry the Lerner criminal. Attacking each other is a side show to the main events Issa is holding.
