“Former” Michigan GOP chairman and RNC committeeman Saul Anuzis is an NPV pimp.

It’s way past revolution time. But, we suck compared to what we used to be.

That’s OK. Before long, we won’t have elections at all, maybe just a rigged public-opinion poll or 2 to provide cover for the elites when they transfer power to their friends.

Texas will refuse to accept that insanity.

On what constitutional grounds are they doing this?

while there have only been 2 elections thus far in history when the electoral vote winner did not win the popular vote, this NPV movement is very disturbing. It highlights the lack of reverence and appreciation for our Constitution.

With the addition of Rhode Island to the NPV effort, the pact now has nine states plus the District of Columbia for a total of 136 of the 270 electoral votes needed. The other states signed up are Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Washington, Vermont and California.

...and so which way did these states vote in the last four (4) Presidential elections?

They will not get to 270. Red state legislatures are not completely stupid or completely crazy.

ummm.. no

to have this, they would need to completely rewrite the basis for the Constitution

not to mention this catchy little phrase: no taxation without representation

... Lawmakers line up behind plan that dumps Electoral College without constitutional amendment

This plan is likely intended to compliment the ill-conceived 17th Amendment by likewise subjecting the Oval Office to mob rule by constitutionally ignorant voters who have never been taught the federal government's constitutionally limited powers.

In other words, corrupt, Constitution-ignoring lawmakers want to intensify the tsunami of constitutionally indefensible federal taxes going to DC, taxes which Congress cannot justify under its constitutional Article I, Section 8-limited powers.

On the other hand, with all due respect to the family and supporters of the late President Reagan, even he signed bills into law which Congress had no power to make under its Section 8-limited powers.

Seems to me a continuation of liberals/statists/leftists/communists/progressives goal of ripping the Constitution to shreds, as they did with abolishing the 17th (with progressive rinos to help).

I only hope that if it gets more traction, that it bites them... when CA/NY/MA/etc are forced to give all their electoral votes to the Conservative Republican candidate for president, causing an electoral landslide for the Republican ticket.

If this passes and it goes to popular vote and a democrat is elected in 2016 it will mark the beginning of our civil war. To hand the Presidency to another communists Democrat would be the end of America as we know it.

This would change elections from trying to get votes for your candidate to trying to keep your opponents voters from coming out.

The US Constitution provides no method for choosing a President ‘other than’ Electors.

To do so is a violation of Article II of the US Constitution. But that doesn’t mean they can’t get away with it. Nor does it mean there aren’t consequences.

To effect this plan the Electors in those States must be fully complicit in this scheme.

Just curious...how does the map of this ‘scheme’ compare with a map of the most aggressive gun control regimes???

(rest of comment self-censored)
