>> He has a long history of liberal positions. I remember him calling for congress to pass a stimulus in 2009. <<

I don't remember Ben Stein going off the reservation prior to 2008, but he definitely went to the dark side that year. The Al Franken endorsement (which he backed up with lots of $$$ for Franken-Stein) gets a lot of attention because its inexcusable. But he also publicly praised Obama, and helped the left spread their "Palin is incompetent" meme. Until he apologizes and make amends for it, he's dead to me.

Ironically, the creationist wing of the GOP loves him because he also released his "Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" documentary around the same time. Very strange priorities for a social conservative -- Teach evolution in public schools? Nope. Elect pro-abortion Marxists in Washington? Hell yes!

>> In my political daydream the senator is Ted Cruz. He delivers an hour long anti-17th speech laced with quips from The Federalist, the afternoon The Hildebeast announces her candidacy. <<

Good thing this daydream isn't reality, or the Texas state legislature would then promptly replace Cruz with GOP establishment suckup David Dewhurst after a round of applause for Cruz giving them the power to do so.

>> he encourages state legislatures to grasp the power they once had. <<

My crooked state legislature has already done so without his encouragement, and what's more, they grasp all kinds of power they DON'T have, and the federal government does nothing when they blatantly defy federal laws and pass their own unconstitutional state laws. The anti-17thers encourage us to "MOVE!" if we don't like our state government, so I don't know why they don't MOVE! to my state if they want powerful state legislatures that "stand up to the feds". My state legislature sticks their nose in every facet of our lives and doesn't give a crap what federal law says. Illinois has more units of state government than any other state. They should love it here if they're big fans of enpowering government at the state level.

Ahhh, ID :Intelligent Design, here's their *argument*

Look how complicated that cat's tongue is.
It couldn't have got here by pure random chance.
Too low probability for that to happen.
It must have been put here by an intelligent force.
We officially have no opinion of what that force was, so we cant compute any probability at all for OUR THEORY to have happened to compare against.
But that doesn't matter
So our ‘nonexistent’ probability beats evolutionists low probability, I mean the one we made up ourselves and assigned to them.
Its so low it proves that evolution is impossible, but not ours because we cant compute a probability of ours at all. So our non-number shows its plausable. So lets teach this in science class.
Its clearly based on facts and science.

Oh yes, Creation is science too but its not ID. This is ID. ”

I was disappointed when I heard Cruz make an anti-17th remark since he is the #1 example we can point to of how repealing the 17th would screw us over. That was around the same time he praised Nelson Mandela, bad week for him.

As for creationists, they don’t understand evolution, or science in general, all they care about is defending their literal interpretation of the Bible.

Reminds me of former White Sox Player “Jurassic” Carl Everett who claimed all dinosaur fossils were fakes.

If I saw Ben Stein, I’d drop trou and take a dump* on his shoes. Then tell him he’s being relocated to a work camp in the East.

*Thank you Billy Bob Thornton.
