Health Care: Republicans pushed a bill that would let small businesses continue to offer high-deductible plans to employees, despite ObamaCare. Sounds like a good idea. So why did the leadership try to hide it?
The original plan for ObamaCare was to force every business with 50 or more employees to provide "affordable" coverage or pay a stiff fine, plus to sharply restrict the plans they could offer by, among other things, capping deductibles at $2,000 for workers.
The cap was little more than a stealth attempt by Democrats to wreck Health Savings Accounts, which trade off high deductibles for tax-free savings accounts that can be used to pay out-of-pocket health costs.

They didn’t blow anything.
They are the enemy.
Time to wake up.
They blew the chance to demonstrate the pain of Obamacare early on by voting out the notice to the IRS on purchases of $600 (IIRC) or more. Stupid. If nothing else, why don’t the GOPe get concessions such as cut spending or tax rates, whatever?
The Gelded Old Party will do nothing but prop up CommieCare. Bonor is an idiot.
I agree.
The Democrats, being bolder, get more of the loot from the robbery,
but the Republicans(e) are completely satisfied with their share.
We have not given to the gop since they muscled Hathaway out of the primary with lies about his sex life, and anointed the lesbian queen of slime, susan collins.
We ought to be able to find at least that many in the southern, Great Plains and Rocky Mountain states.
What if GOPe refuses to fund their races ?
(like I read about in VA race)
Then they will claim that conservatives are unelectable.
The aforementioned five don’t need the GOPe. Indeed, Cruz and Lee fought against the GOPe to win primaries against the GOPe endorsed opponent. We can’t match the GOPe in money, but we can more than match them in work and votes, especially in conservative states.
This thread blames Ken Cuccinelli’s loss on the GOPe, says they refused to fund his campaign adequately.
Those posting comments on it seemed to think the GOPEs $$$ is critical to conservatives elections.
Honestly speaking, in marginal states like Virginia, GOPe money can and does make the difference.
Exactly.
This goes to one of my pet peeves, many times I listen to certain talk radio hosts and they often talk like every state is a red state when they are pitching ‘to do’ stuff, then other times they rule certain states out.
VA is purple and it is heavily dependent on federal contracts as is my socialist state Maryland.
Yep. But try to tell that to the purists who think Pennsylvania can elect a Ted Cruz. We’re damn lucky to have a Pat Toomey, despite some serious differences I have with him.
That's the crazy part, sometimes they sound like they just want to abandon every state that's not like Texas, other times they sound like they think a Ted Cruz could win in MA or NY.
Also Dems have shown in Maryland and CA that once they take over every significant office(like governor and house and Senate) in a state, they will pass laws that make it impossible for a Republican to win again in that state.
Some seem to have had a fantasy that after total Dem rule the state voters will get fed up and all vote conservative.
