After being caught passionately kissing an aide on videotape, U.S. Rep. Vance McAllister, who ran as a devoted family man and Christian, late Monday afternoon asked forgiveness from his family and constituents
McAllister did not answer his phone and his office did not answer its phone in Washington, D.C. and West Monroe.
But in prepared statement released late Monday McAllister said: Theres no doubt Ive fallen short and Im asking for forgiveness. Im asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve. Trust is something I know has to be earned whether your a husband, a father, or a congressman. I promise to do everything I can to earn back the trust of everyone Ive disappointed, McAllister stated.
From day one, Ive always tried to be an honest man. I ran for congress to make a difference and not to just be another politician. I dont want to make a political statement on this, I would just simply like to say that Im very sorry for what Ive done. While I realize I serve the public, I would appreciate the privacy given to my children as we get through this, McAllister stated.
The Ouachita Citizen, based in West Monroe, broke the story and released the surveillance video Monday.
Sam Hanna Jr., publisher of The Ouachita Citizen, said Monday the video arrived in an envelope a couple weeks ago from an anonymous source and his reporters spent the time between then and now verifying its contents and participants.
Hanna said he had been inside McAllisters Monroe congressional office at 1900 Stubbs Ave., Suite B, a dozen times.
McAllister is caught on tape embracing and kissing a woman, a 33-year-old aide, Hanna says is Melissa Anne Hixon Peacock, the wife of longtime friend. A self-employed cosmetologist, Peacock joined McCallisters congressional campaign last fall.
The incident occurred at roughly 1:39 p.m. on Dec. 23, 2013, McAllister, won the 5th Congressional District seat last year, running in his first political race as an underdog with an anti-establishment campaign. He was endorsed by the Robertson clan of Duck Dynasty fame. As the Duck Dynasty candidate, he defeated state Sen. Neil Riser, R-Columbia, even though Gov. Bobby Jindals chief political adviser ran Risers campaign.
After the election, McAllister said those who advised that Riser go negative should be run out of Louisiana for failing to represent Louisiana values.
McAllister, father of five who has been married 16 years, largely self-funded his campaign with the money hes made in the oil-and-gas pipeline business.
BTTT
abb people don’t care. Once there mind is made up, their “fan base” cheerleads no matter what people point out as truth. They are in a dream fan club. I am waiting for the shoe to drop on Cruz .I find him to be a fraud and acts EXACTLY like Obama. But the slobbering fans just continue to fall into a dreamy crush and can’t see reality. It will happen and when it does it will be ugly. I almost feel sorry for some of them and the disappointment they will have.
I remember that. THe Duck Dynasty support gave this guy the edge.
I wonder if he was a manchurian candidate. I remember warnings that he was a moderate.
What he really meant to say.
The president of a company I worked for got caught up in that a bit more with an underling at an office Christmas party.
Cost him $25K for her to drop her threat of lawsuit.
BTTT!
Cleo Fields did robo calls for him. He supports amnesty. & mega aid expansion. Wolf in elephant ‘s clothing.
Sorry- that’s Medicaid expansion. :)
Yawn. How does this make him a threat to the Republic like a Democrat?
This is one of the most conservative districts in the country. A democrat isn’t going to get elected, the race is between republicans.
From the article: “....Melissa Anne Hixon Peacock, the wife of longtime friend. A self-employed cosmetologist....”
It’s good to know she’s well qualified to work in the congressman’s office.
His “friend” is gonna’ be ex-friend.
I was about to ask “Wonder what the Robertsons think about this.” Then I see they endorsed him. I’m sure they’re disappointed.
That “elevator thingy” actually happened to me once. Wow! She was a looker! And she started it!
Television stars, what don’t they know?
I, too, am concerned about Cruz. Even if he’s never done anything wrong, the Chicago (and rino) machine can make stuff up and make it stick.
But I never get too excited about anyone anymore. To me anyone who runs for office reminds me of Groucho Marx’s statement. “I refuse to be a member of a club that would have me as a member.”
This “cosmopoligist” will be collecting some money, too.
The lady is the wife of his friend. Nobody can trust this guy.
Yep.
Hypocrites are victims of blackmail/extortion.
