After being caught passionately kissing an aide on videotape, U.S. Rep. Vance McAllister, who ran as a devoted family man and Christian, late Monday afternoon asked forgiveness from his family and constituents
McAllister did not answer his phone and his office did not answer its phone in Washington, D.C. and West Monroe.
But in prepared statement released late Monday McAllister said: Theres no doubt Ive fallen short and Im asking for forgiveness. Im asking for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents who elected me to serve. Trust is something I know has to be earned whether your a husband, a father, or a congressman. I promise to do everything I can to earn back the trust of everyone Ive disappointed, McAllister stated.
From day one, Ive always tried to be an honest man. I ran for congress to make a difference and not to just be another politician. I dont want to make a political statement on this, I would just simply like to say that Im very sorry for what Ive done. While I realize I serve the public, I would appreciate the privacy given to my children as we get through this, McAllister stated.
The Ouachita Citizen, based in West Monroe, broke the story and released the surveillance video Monday.
Sam Hanna Jr., publisher of The Ouachita Citizen, said Monday the video arrived in an envelope a couple weeks ago from an anonymous source and his reporters spent the time between then and now verifying its contents and participants.
Hanna said he had been inside McAllisters Monroe congressional office at 1900 Stubbs Ave., Suite B, a dozen times.
McAllister is caught on tape embracing and kissing a woman, a 33-year-old aide, Hanna says is Melissa Anne Hixon Peacock, the wife of longtime friend. A self-employed cosmetologist, Peacock joined McCallisters congressional campaign last fall.
The incident occurred at roughly 1:39 p.m. on Dec. 23, 2013, McAllister, won the 5th Congressional District seat last year, running in his first political race as an underdog with an anti-establishment campaign. He was endorsed by the Robertson clan of Duck Dynasty fame. As the Duck Dynasty candidate, he defeated state Sen. Neil Riser, R-Columbia, even though Gov. Bobby Jindals chief political adviser ran Risers campaign.
After the election, McAllister said those who advised that Riser go negative should be run out of Louisiana for failing to represent Louisiana values.
McAllister, father of five who has been married 16 years, largely self-funded his campaign with the money hes made in the oil-and-gas pipeline business.
I’ve been active in conservative Louisiana politics for 35 years. I know most all the players, or at least the key “movement conservative” types. None of us had ever heard of this guy. No letters to the editor, he wasn’t around during the Tea Party rallies we had down here, never saw him at area police jury or city council meetings - nothing.
I prefer to vote for and support people who’ve proven themselves. Riser I knew, and he’s got a good voting record in the Louisiana Legislature.
We conservatives here in the 5th District got snookered.
Yes. Yes you did.
on top of that, he's ugly... yuck...
So the congressman needs an advisor on the
Young lay seems perfectly well-suited to offer counsel
on such matters of pressing and heated concern
they quacked up
Can they find, King Amambo school records now?
One of the characteristics of psychopaths is their involvement in extramarital affairs. A parallel characteristic is their affinity for politics. We need to recognize that many of our politicians, on both sides of the aisle, are certified psychopaths beginning with the Commander in Chief and rolling on down to morons like this guy. Get out there and vote, America.
young lady I meant young lady!
apologies
Do you think this is the first time for an adulterer? I am willing to bet that his wife knows the husband’s extra-curricular activities. Now that is it public, she might find this marriage-of-convenience not so convenient. If she is shrewd like Hitlery, she might even come out of this thing more powerful.
A. I don't sleep where I work.
B. I don't mess around with married women.
C. If I'm in a serious relationship, I'm not going to mess up a good thing.
From the article: “McAllister and his wife have been married for 16 years.”
Sorry, but it sounds quite unbelievable that a wife of 16 years would not know about her husband’s philandering.
That's putting it lightly .
I had to do a search to find out he is a Republican.
-=00=-
Hang him any way, he isn’t trustworthy.
Must be switching to Bolshecrat Party, this is a resume enhancer.
Especially if he was kissing another man.
Campaigns on family values and the vid shows exactly how meaningful it all is to him. Idiot.
I think something more important probably preceded the kiss...outside the scope of the camera.
This vid wasn’t taken in DC. It was in his Monroe, LA office.
