A religious sister from the highly respected Nashville Dominicans has come under attack from liberal Catholic parents and students who objected to her lecture on same-sex attraction and divorce at a Catholic high school in the Diocese of Charlotte, North Carolina.
Though no tape has surfaced from the talk, students afterward told their parents that Sister Jane Dominic Laurel talked about the causes of homosexuality, saying it was not inborn but likely the cause of psychological factors. They also say she presented data showing that children raised in same-sex parent households are more likely to end up as same-sex-attracted than children raised in more traditional households.
It is reported Sister Laurel also talked about the greater chance at life success that children have who come from households headed by the childs biological mother and father in a lifelong commitment of marriage.

The nun scandal comes in an increasing climate of hostility to Christianity from the same-sex-attracted and their allies.
In recent days the gay head of Disney World has forbidden his staff from officially volunteering for the Boy Scouts over their resistance to allowing gay scoutmasters.
A Catholic school in Seattle is being sued for firing an assistant principle who married his same-sex partner. Students there also protested his firing, organizing mass protests.
The new CEO of Mozilla was forced to resign this week for opposing gay marriage in California.
Homosexual activists in Germany threw feces at Christians demonstrating over educational questions.
Sister Laurel has withdrawn from her scheduled appearance at the Diocese of Charlotte annual youth conference scheduled for May in Asheville.

Hate to blame the Catholic church and its school but they are doing an awful job at teaching the foundations of Catholic morality for all these Catholics to be upset at it.
Even as a protestant youth in the 80s going to a Catholic school I knew what the Catholic church stood for as a faith.
C’mon, a strict Jesuit would rap those knuckles and not batted an eye!

Back in our day, yes, but not these days.
This is so damn dumb. The sodomites claim that children raised in same-sex families are totally accepting of their so-called “families.” What the heck else do the kids know? Have they ever been raised in a traditional family with one father and one mother?
And they’re most likely to make the same choice because traditional marriage is being assaulted.
This must have been what it was like to be Lot in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah.
As we raise up our voices and cry out to God in prayer over these persecutions today, let us not forget how ‘bold’ the men were in the days of Sodom, as they made demands to Lot to handover his ‘visitors’ to be gang raped.
Let us not forget either that it was not just homosexuality, but all manner of sexual perversions that brought down the wrath of God. Much like today the culture was filled with lust and sexual temptations.
Again, we are standing witness to that same culture surrounding good people and demanding we surrender ourselves or others over to their sins. Not much unlike Lot and his family, we are being told we’re not welcome to live our own lives as they surround and persecute people for not accepting the homosexual agenda.
Anti-Gay Pastor Sued By Soros-Funded Group For ‘Crimes Against Humanity’
If it’s evil, you know Soros will have a hand in it.
Tell the parents and the students that since they feel there is no need for the school to teach Catholic doctrine, there is no longer any need for the school to exist and it will be closed down.
See how they like that.
Un-natural, life-blocking, abnormal, queer, health-risking, guilt-ridden behavior is...just that. Bible just tells it like it is. No apologies any more, LGBTQ tiny minority. No more.
I agree. The school officials made errors in judgment.
First, you’re correct: the Church teaches that parents are to form their children in sexual virtue, not third parties going around the parents. Will the parents always do a good job? Of course not. However, that doesn’t void the principle.
Second, “Never put a witness on the stand if you don’t know what he’s going to say.” The school seems to have been surprised by the content of the Sister’s presentation. What’s up with that? And why wasn’t the school making a recording, if only for future presentation if they thought the presentation so valuable?
Third, “Know your audience.” The fact that they were surprised by the outcome indicates profound ignorance of the audience.
Finally, they need to learn from this. I assume their goal is to teach Catholic doctrine and promote virtue among the students. Clearly, this was not a successful effort in that direction. Keeping the goal foremost in mind, they need to say to themselves, “This didn’t work. What other means might we try?” Then they need *realistically* to consider the possibilities.
What is wrong with this woman - speaking the truth about filthy homosexualism to children of “liberal Catholic parents”?
Doesn’t she know that kind of anti-homosexual talk places liberal Catholics in an embarrassing position at liberal parties and democrat party rallies?
This Nun is a loose cannon on deck.
Heck - The next thing she will probably tell these kids is that abortion is wrong.

Shame on the bishop for not standing up for this brave and holy woman. Gee, we can’t have people teaching no Catholic doctrine in a Catholic school, can we? Ugggh!
I don't think your conclusion is warranted: the fundamental commitment of the left from the time of the French Revolution onward has been the hatred of the Gospel. Both Muslims and politicized homosexuals have an almost limitless supply of support from the left without either spending money simply by virtue of their anti-Christian stances. (Sound reasoning being in short supply on the left, the contradiction between backing "gay rights" and supporting a creed that defines itself principally in terms of religious law and has laws calling for the death penalty for homosexual sex somehow does not disturb the leftist, who feels good about supporting both since both are opposed to those "awful Christians".)
To some, the “religion” of moral relativism trumps the religion of Jesus Christ.
Thou shalt not “dis” the homosexuals or else.

True that.
I have considered (and will reconsider), but "Sister Laurel has withdrawn from her scheduled appearance at the Diocese of Charlotte annual youth conference scheduled for May in Asheville" doesn't sound like she has the complete backing of her order.
I have the utmost respect for what the Catholic Church has accomplished in the past with respect to education - particularly in urban areas. However, if the Church itself is unwilling to defend its' own theology, how can they expect anyone else to respect it?
bump!
