U.S. federal agents have uncovered two drug-smuggling tunnels underneath the U.S.-Mexico border, both surfacing in San Diego-area warehouses and equipped with rail systems for moving contraband, officials said on Friday.

The discovery led to the arrest of a 73-year-old woman accused of running one of the warehouses connected to a drug smuggling operation, according to a joint news release by four federal agencies.

Militarize the border with Mexico. Let them interdict the invaders from the south. Enforce the border and defend the US from invasion—that’s what the military is supposed to do.

Legalize pot so these rails can be put to use as a bullet train for the importation of low cost employees/Democrat voters!

I know that place. The warehouse on Marconi Avenue in San Diego’s Otay Mesa has a loading dock big enough to handle 18 wheeler trucks. It is about 300 yards north of the border. Probably in operation for years before US law enforcement stumbled upon it.

On January 25, 2006, a tunnel was found on the US-Mexico border by a joint U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and U.S. Border Patrol task force. The 2400-foot-long (720m) tunnel runs from a warehouse near the Tijuana airport to a warehouse in San Diego.

On November 26, 2010, a 2,600 foot (800m) tunnel was discovered linking Tijuana to Otay Mesa, California. In the same month another tunnel was discovered between these two cities. Both tunnels were discovered by a San Diego Task Force and are believed to be the work of Mexico's Sinaloa cartel.

Since October 2008, more than 70 sophisticated tunnels have been found, mostly concentrated along the California and Mexico border.

The technology is readily available via wireless encrypted geophones and the computing power to seismically monitor selected “problem” stretches of the border to detect and interdict any tunnelling activity. The only thing missing is the political will to use it.

Pack it with explosives. Keep satellite surveillance on both ends until smugglers enter and when they’ve been in long enough to have reached the middle, blow the damned thing.

The so-called DummyCRATS (and a fair number of neo-cons) think the US military exists to be Team America World Police. Fight for Al Qaeda in Syria or Libya? We’re all over that! Protect the United States from foreign invasion from the south? Eh, not so much.

There are very few buildings within range of Mexico along the San Diego border. The fact that these two tunnels have been in operation means that the border patrol simply is not inspecting buildings which are known possibilities for tunnels. I have been along there many times and there just are not many possible sites..they should be finding these places a lot quicker..unless they really don’t want to find them.
