Desmond Tutu is a winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for his work to end apartheid in South Africa, and has long been a supporter of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, which uses nonviolent means to challenge the Israeli occupation of Palestine and is the initiative being attacked by these bills.
Tutu notes that these legislative initiatives are aimed at punishing and intimidating those who speak their conscience and challenge the human rights violations endured by the Palestinian people.

Is so-called Palestine in Africa? Shouldn’t the pastor mind his own flock?
There are no "Palestinian people" only moslem bums that even other arabs have no use for.
Tutu should have thrown himself in Mandela’s grave just before they filled it up.
screw Tutu
Tutu has been a nazi from the git- go. The mass media love him for it. But there are millions of good Africans, Christians and pagans alike, the media doesn’t chase around for hateful or sicko quotes and pronouncements like this. And tiny Israel has been conducting very helpful public health, education, and community development foreign aid projects in a number of African countries for many years. But the mass media doesn’t choose to tell us about those things either. Who knows, it’s time for old jimmy carter to make another anti- Semitic remark. You know, the second- worst president in history, the one who sold Israel out for a big Saudi contribution to his library all about peanuts. Gee, when will we ever get an honest media. One that investigates and finds out and Tells us poor peons some version at least of what’s truthfully going on, and bring done to us and our country?
This dip stick Tutu said he would choose Hell over a homophobic Heaven. I think he made that choice, long before homosexuality became an issue.
Has anybody else noticed that the title “Nobel prize winner” does not have the cachet it once had?
To think he could have been the first leader of Zimbabwe, until Jimmy Carter got involved, and dictator Robert Mugabe got elected in the do-over.

I think you’re confusing Tutu with Bishop Abel Muzorewa, one of the moderate leaders in what was then called Rhodesia.
You’d think that Tutu, of all people, would know that Israel is not like South Africa.
He’s (currently) living proof that one doesn’t have to believe in God to be a preacher.
If youd like to be on or off, please FR mail me.

Good thing for the Archbishop he doesn't live in Gaza.
Yep. Further proof that nobel peace prize is a farce.
Who pulled the chain on this black racist b@$t@red?
I’d like to see how long the Christian Bishop Tutu lasts in the Palestinian territories.
Nonetheless, the Maryland Nanny State should not ban divestment from Israel. That is 1st Amendment territory.

At the time, I liked Muzorewa, too. His transitional government included two other clergymen; Ndabaningi Sithole and Jeremiah Chirau; I hope I spelled those names right. It’s too bad Zimbabwean voters simply voted for whomever was in their tribe. If I remember correctly, Mugabe comes from the largest tribe, the Shona.
