At the time, I liked Muzorewa, too. His transitional government included two other clergymen; Ndabaningi Sithole and Jeremiah Chirau; I hope I spelled those names right. It’s too bad Zimbabwean voters simply voted for whomever was in their tribe. If I remember correctly, Mugabe comes from the largest tribe, the Shona.

Yup, the Zimbabwe vote was 100% tribal based, especially when the Rhodesian Security Forces were confined to barracks and vote fraud by the ZANU(PF), ZAPU, and ZIPRA parties went full-force. Mugabe's Shona majority tribe's party, ZANU(PF), won the ballot box stuffing match and he became president for life. Mugabe and his cronies are the classic example of “one man, one vote, once” that is all too common in Africa.
