Optical scientists at the University of Arizona and University of Central Florida have developed a new type of laser technology capable of sending high-intensity beams through the atmosphere much farther than what was previously possible. The research, which was recently published in the journal Nature Photonics, is still in the laboratory phase. However, with further development, this technology could be used to divert lightning bolts away from buildings in the future.

Lee Trevino was the author of the assertion. The conversation was in regards to being on the golf course during a lightening storm. Lee quipped that you could stand in a sand trap holding a one iron to be safe, because even God can’t hit a one iron.
I’m not sure if conventional science would be counted as a “great wonder” in this context. Yes it is possible to provoke lightning flashes out of storm clouds. Ask Ben Franklin with the kite. High tech ion trailers would be another way. My guess is that having it happen out of the literal blue would be a great wonder. But just my hunch.
Reminds me of the story of an African dictator that was blinded by laser. Obviously he was not longer invincible and the populace became unruly.

If that lightning followed the plasma field left by the laser, wouldn’t that direct the lightning to the laser ?

Your so called alert is delusional. There is no guarantee that this table top discovery will scale to anything useful. More over it is patently absurd to label scientific advances in understanding as being anti-Christ. The true anti-Christ will do wonders on his own not through the use of laser beams.
