This is very interesting because Kazakhstan has a history of being ant-Russia.
Kazakhstan is not anti-Russia...
And I bet that Russia OK’d this move.
I guess that I should have mentioned that I et a Russian from Kazakhstan. He told me that the Russians had been sent there to more or less occupy the country and they had no choice, that they had just been relocated. He said that the Russian immigrants made a life for themselves in Kazakhstan and were responsible for most of the modernization. He said that resented the Russians and were putting extreme limits on their freedom in the country and denying their children the right to attend school in the country. He said that many of the Russian Kazakhs have come to America.
Maybe things have changed their since my neighbor emigrated from Kazakhstan.
That was easy.
How do we get Prime Minister and Head Potentate Barackus Obama to resign like that?
I avoid visiting the stan countries and recommend the same.
Kazakhstan was one of the countries that voted for Russia’s takeover of Crimea.
Russia has a massive presence in Kazakhstan, including the Balkinor Cosmodrome and various testing ranges, as well as military bases. Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Russia are founding members of the Eurasian union and Commonwealth of “independent” states, and Russia and Kazakhstan are members of the Shanghai Cooperative Organization
Ha, ha. Not to mention that about 50% of the retired Russian/Soviet military live in Almaty. That city is basically “company” town, complete with Officers club, clubs for retired non-coms, etc. Almaty is basically the Kazach version of Switzerland.
What does “Stan” in the countries name mean?
I get the impression that STAN is used to mean LAND, or LAND OF. Just as with some arabic names, AL is used to express FROM, or FROM THE LAND OF. See Ashraf al-Khamaisi, a writer of fiction.
Afghanistan Kazakhstan Pakistan Tajikistan Turkmenistan Uzbekistan Kyrgyzstan
stan meaning according to the interweb is place or home some say land.
Isn’t that essentially how Putin came back to power?
Massimov is one of Hunter Biden’s pals...
