The Free Republic moderator staff today announced a major shakeup in the staffing at FR - no longer will the Viking Kitties be called upon to finish off trolls.
"We decided that we should embrace 21st Century Technology instead of just getting all Medieval on trolls" Admin Moderator was quoted as saying. "Yeah, drones aren't cute and cuddly when not frying trolls, but you don't have to scoop the litterbox with drones."
"We did extensive field testing of Chaotic Moon drones on Sidebar Moderator. They worked swimmingly and put Sidebar on the deck every time, although he hasn't quite been his usual self since. With hindsight, maybe 20 80,000 volt tests were a few too many."
Admin Moderator expects the first live use of drones to happen within a few days.

You're probably wondering what one of those is and where do you get one, hmmm.
These are a fairly recent discovery that has not gotten the publicity it should have, imho. Discovered in 1995 by the respected Italian biologist, Aprile Pazzo, these fascinating creatures had bony plates on their heads that, fed by numerous blood vessels, could become burning hot, allowing the animals to bore through ice at high speeds. They used this ability to hunt penguins, melting the ice beneath the penguins and causing them to sink downwards into the resulting slush where the hotheads consumed them.
Maybe they could hunt trolls, too?

As a person of Viking heritage, I must protest this outrage against the noble memory of my Nordic forebears. It was bad enough that we were displaced by kitties, though I must admit they have done brave and valiant deeds, showing themselves mighty in battle, bringing dread upon all trolls and other such as trouble these fair shores. But now, to finally be edged completely out of the picture by those blind, soulless machines, that probably don’t even look good in Viking headgear? The indignity is almost more than I can bear.
