White House Cyber Chief Says Snowden Damage Will Be Felt for Decades
Free Beacon ^ | March 28, 2014 | Bill Gertz

Damage to U.S. national security caused by NSA contractor Edward Snowden will take decades to repair, the White House official in charge of cyber security said Friday. Snowden’s treachery is especially grave because he exposed how all the parts fit together—the blueprints for how America’s most significant intelligence enterprise actually works—which is also the blueprint for how to defeat it,” she said.

“So what does this mean in real terms? It means that the president may not have the intelligence he needs to have for crucial decisions. Nor will the Congress. We may not see threats we should have seen, never mind opportunities. It means that there may be future attacks that we do not see coming, which otherwise might have been prevented,” Van Cleav said in an email.

One has to ask why telling the truth is treason? We protect our criminal class (aka congress and elected officials) from scrutiny? Then we have forgotten what our Founders warned each of us of.

Blame away. While you still can.

“When they took the fifth amendment,
I was quiet because I didn’t own real estate.
When they took the fourth amendment,
I was quiet because I didn’t deal drugs.
When they took the sixth amendment,
I was quiet because I was innocent.
When they took the second amendment,
I was quiet because I didn’t own a gun.
Now they’ve taken the first amendment,
and I can say nothing about it. “

One has to ask why telling the truth is treason?

The problem is that Snowden took far, far more than information relating to domestic spying programs. He took stuff that could significantly shift the intelligence advantage from our country to any other that gets its hands on it. Stuff that could endanger a great many lives.

When the NSA guy on "60 Minutes" says that he took the keys to the kingdom, believe it.

Snowden was a lowly intelligence gather. Look to those at the top levels of our federal government for the actual treason and stuff that could endanger a great many lives. Is really that simple.

Why should I believe anything they say? Because they said it on 60 minutes?

I think he took stuff they don’t want Americans to know.

Their security has become so lax the Chinese and Russians almost certainly already have it.

(from the article):" Snowden’s treachery is especially grave because he exposed how all the parts fit together—the blueprints

So , without Snowden , we the CITIZENS of the United States would not have known the extent of our own government spying on us..
and that is bad ? How ?
Our own government is spying on us .. ? WHY ..?
What the government is upset about is that we now know that our government is spying on us ,
while what they are really uspset at is the fact that we now know, and Snowden has told us , and our international friends now know .
Foreign Intelligence spying has prevented how many bombings ?.. Zero !
Our Foreign Intelligence is reactionary ( after the fact) and has not prevented any act of terrorism before it was to occur .
It was overreach which made our friends not trust us , and our enemies not fear us .
Snowden is neither Saint ,.. nor Sinner ; he is an American who just wanted us to know how much data our own government was collecting on us
without warrant , or even probable cause !
And therefore , .. it is ILLEGAL !!

Snowden wasn’t an intelligence gatherer at all. And the treason committed by our “leaders” doesn’t excuse the damage Snowden’s done either.

Don’t believe them. Don’t believe me. It still happened, and it could get very bad for a lot of people.

Undoubtedly that was part of it.

Their security has become so lax the Chinese and Russians almost certainly already have it.

Do you work with those guys or in the intel community? Before Snowden I'd say there was very little chance of that being the case. Now? Almost certainly.

yes, leaders love to lead even if it is the path of and to destruction. They have a compliant media ever single time too.
