DETROIT, MI -- Wayne State administrators are using Detroit's financial calamity to teach.
A new course, "Detroit: Metropolis in Transition," will be offered by the the Department of Urban Studies and Planning beginning this summer.
**SNIP**
The lecture will cover Detroit's history up to present day and "issues such as the city's frustrated attempts at regionalism and its persistence as the largest metro are in the United States without a comprehensive, rail-based public transit system."

This class will blame conservative’s and racism for Detroit’s bankruptcy regardless of what they say it will teach now.

I'd be all for it if police chief Craig teaches it.

Department of Urban Studies and Planning Whenever someone uses the word urban, replace it with the word communist to understand what they mean. By planning they mean central planning. Has there ever been an urban planner that wasn't really a communist?

Oh no
.how the Republicans caused the bankruptcy. Today people still think that the Republicans caused the mess in Detroit. Unbelievable.

A good transportation example exists right there in Detroit with the privately owned Detroit Bus Company.
They've ditched the old standard model of running regular routes whether anyone is riding or not. Instead you can find the nearest bus with a phone app and even call to have them pick you up at the nearest corner to where you are and drop you off near where you're going. They've also started chartering routes to neighborhoods where people want regular service. They give free rides to kids in after school programs and drop little old ladies right at their front door.
I also thought this was very cool. When someone broke in and trashed an ancient bar in Detroit, the Detroit Bus Company showed up with customers to help them get back on their feet.
