A group of top Republican donors have reportedly begun an intense effort to draft former Florida governor Jeb Bush into the race for the GOP presidential nomination in 2016.
A Washington Post report quotes one major donor as saying that the "vast majority" of the top 100 givers to 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney would back Bush in a nomination fight.
The report also claims that a hard press has begun to get Bush into the race because conservative leaders and longtime Republican operatives are concerned about the electoral viability of New Jersey governor Chris Christie and Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul. Christie's standing and poll numbers, both nationally and among Republicans, have been damaged by the ongoing investigation into whether he knew of access lane closures to the George Washington Bridge ordered by his staff as apparent political retaliation.

Earlier this week, Bush met privately with casino magnate and GOP donor Sheldon Adelson and addressed the Republican Jewish Coalition's senior members at a dinner held Thursday at Adelson's company airport hangar. The Post, citing a donor in attendance at the dinner, reported that the crowd of about 60 guests applauded when one told Bush, "I hope you run for President in 2016."

Running another Bush is a waste of time and money IMO.
There are FAR MANY better candidates than that one and I would truly hope someone in the GOP has the brains to pick the candidate that WILL WIN, unlike their previous attempts.
I think there might be as many as a half-dozen Bushes in the pipeline for a future presidency. The future is looking very Bush-y indeed.
General statement aimed at no one in particular...People WILL have a choice. The GOP WILL nominate Jeb or someone like him. They WON’T accept anyone but an inner circle member.
Then people will either put their money where their mouths are and stand like men, or they will run to the polls like last time and come back with excuses for abandoning their so called principles... again.
Lots of tough talk now. Just like last time. We will see when the time comes who is ready to back their talk with their vote.

Dont sit it out. Vote for a 3rd party or write your own name in. But if they want to give us a liberal to vote for, give the vote to someone else where it will be counted against them.
But I suspect there will be a legit conservative available to vote for.
Jeb Bush was a very good Governor of Florida.
I believe he has a lot of politic smarts.
That being said, I don’t want him to run for President.

Predictably, the war profiteering was huge---the WSJ reported neocon guru, Richard Perle, is setting up his own oil company in Iraq (your tax dollars at work).
The US left Iraq with not a barrel of oil to our name.....and rivers of young blood spilled on its decrepit soil

The gist of the article is that the GOP wants a winner and Bush is the strongest candidate so far.
If you want to name a stronger candidate, the lets hear it and the gop donors will likely get behind a stronger candidate.
If you can’t name a stronger candidate (Tom Tancredo and Newt Gingrich won’t cut it) then you need to shut up your bellyaching. Oh and Palin’s resume to be potus is that she was AK governor for 2 years 7 months and mayor of Wasilla (population 5,000).
Like it or not, your realistic choices are likely to be Santorum, Bush, Romney, or Ryan.
Cruz should run and Cruz should lose due to a thin resume and inexperience in running a national campaign. The way to get experience in a national campaign is to run in 2016 , finish a close 2nd or third, and then he will be ready in 2020.

But another interesting point is the double standard in America for democrats and republicans.
Why do the democrats like Hillary ? If her name was not Clinton, she would be another washed up windbag like Madeleine Albright.

since we settled that, i'm not real sure what your point was, but please relax.
The good thing about Walker is that he has solid accomplishments in Wisc; yet he is not yet a very high profile figure to the sheeple. But, his standing up to the unions will resonate and those folks may have a vague memory.
We Conservative showed ourselves unable to unite behind a best option in the last cycle. We've gotta find a way to do that this time. Sarah Palin could go be huge for us, if she would come out early for somebody. I blame her, in part, for the mess that the last primary was.
It's been clear to me for years that the GOPe, despite some disagreements wit the Democrats, regard a conservative takeover of the Executive Branch as a catastrophe to be prevented at all costs.
This is why I support a third party - not as a vehicle for an egomaniac nor as a single-issue vehicle, but as a genuine party that contests all 435 House seats and all open Senate seats, as well as the Presidency.
The problem we have is not that a Jeb Bush or Chris Christie nomination will split the party openly - either of them would lose quietly as conservatives stayed home.
The problem is that a Cruz or a Palin nomination would split the party openly. I think that either Christie or Bush would run as Hillary's VP to "save the nation" from - us.
And, although we could beat that ticket with a two-year, positive runup to 2016, a last-minute "emergency" coalition with the enemedia fanning the flames of panic about the "extreme right-wing takeover crisis" might not give us enough time to change enough minds to win.
Bottom line: If they win the nomination, they expect our support. If we win the nomination, they have no intention of supporting us.
Think Jim Jeffords or Arlen Specter on a national scale.
The split has already happened, and it's permanent. The Bush-Clinton crime family coalition exists to prevent another Reagan. Let's not fool around any more.
