After a short discussion with guests about some controversial statements from Paul Ryan, that some asserted were racist, Maher then read a quote that he falsely attributed to Ryan. He then dropped the hammer by identifying the source: Michelle Obama.
Maher made made the point that black people can say things that white people cannot.
I’m just asking: Is something less true if a white person says it about black people? This sounds even more like, ‘Hey Black people, don’t be lazy.’
Comedian W. Kamau Bell, obviously uncomfortable, responded back:
She’s talking to Black people,” Bell retorted. “We talk to each other differently than we talk to you.”
Typically defending the left side of the aisle, Maher also has a reputation for calling out hypocrisy and double-standards on occasion, no matter who it’s from.

Now, if he had said, "We talk to each other differently than we talk to YOU PEOPLE", well, that would have been an obvious racist slur.

That is clearly on display all over the country now. I live in the “Cradle of the Confederacy” and black people clearly are given preference in government hiring and in a lot of hiring for so called private businesses. It is so blatantly obvious in government hiring as to be ridiculous and yet many black people still have the gall to claim they are the VICTIMS of discrimination in places where they clearly are the beneficiaries of discrimination. I am still waiting to hear Steve Harvey explain how if one out of eight people in this country are black he gets away with having a black family on every single showing of “The Family Fued”, there are only two families on at a time so fifty percent of his guests are black in a country which is twelve to thirteen percent black. If that is not discrimination in favor of blacks then I don’t understand simple arithmetic and I made an A in the subject on almost every report card.
Virtually all racism in this country, today, emanates from non-white origins.
