Tina Fey Hit With Workers' Comp Judgment
The Smoking Gun ^ | Mar. 28 2014

-New York State officials have filed a $79,000 judgment against Tina Fey, alleging that the comedian has failed to carry required workers' compensation insurance, according to court filings.

The Workers’ Compensation Board lodged the judgment against Fey last week in State Supreme Court in Manhattan. State records indicate that the 43-year-old entertainer is being dunned for “Failure to Carry Workers’ Comp Ins” from late-2012 through last month.

A “Final Notice” regarding the $79,000 debt is addressed to Elizabeth T. Fey at a Manhattan address that, records show, has been the headquarters for the former “Saturday Night Live” star’s production company, Little Stranger Inc..

The March 20 judgment is in Fey’s name, not that of her company, which produced “30 Rock,” the NBC comedy starring Fey and Alec Baldwin, and is developing other TV and film projects.

Court records do not detail how state officials arrived at the $79,000 figure, though it represents “Awards and Penalties” levied against Fey for her “having defaulted in payment thereof.” In a court affirmation, a state lawyer noted that, “Appeals before the Board have been exhausted.” (5 pages)

Tina Fey can see the Taxman from her jail cell. No Workers'Comp payment, so probably no unemployment insurance payment, so probably no Social Security payment. This story may have legs. If it does, Sarah Palin has better legs. TWB

To bad 79,000 dollars is just basically 500 dollars for us. She is so rich that it is more a nuisance for her accountant than anything that will hurt her.

Nah Workerman’s Comp payments are NOT the same as paying to the tax man. They are monitored by government (usually the state since that’s where the laws originate). it is in truth an insurance premium that you have to show you paid. It is based on type of work done( the risk factor) and the amount of money earned (wages).

It is not all that unusual to have an entity or corporation sole have such a judgement against them

Tina Fey's hiring Mexican CPAs following Gov. Moonbeam's law practices?

Being in the entertainment industry in NYC, and hiring illegals is hazardous to your life.

Just ask Adrienne Shelly. Oh wait, Tina can't. Shelly was murdered by her illegal [Ecuadoran] "employee".

Nothing but greed. She has millions in the bank, will never have to work again, but tries to screw the state out of $79,000 and her employers out of workman’s comp insurance. Just like Martha Stewart. She went to jail because she couldn’t stand the thought of losing $20,000.

My guess is that she hires contractors rather than employees...thinking that she did not need to pay WCI. But it’s the worksite that requires you carry insurance, not the hiring condition.

My guess is that Tina had nothing to do with this.

Just from the legal point of view, it isn’t always clear who needs to carry workers comp and which laws apply.

Tina v. Sarah

I hold no grudges against Tina Fey. She’s an entertainer, a muse, a laugh. As such, adds to the lives of many. Humor is the antidote to stress.

I do hold grudges on the millions she influenced, who would rather be amused than thoughtful.

Tina Fey is a talented liberal hack.
If liberal’s in the mix, I avoid it. Oh well.
