Guinea's capital Conakry was on high alert on Friday after a deadly Ebola epidemic which has killed dozens in the southern forests was confirmed to have spread to the sprawling port city of two million people.
Eight cases have been confirmed in the capital, the Guinean health ministry said late Friday, including one fatality.
All those infected have been put into isolation at the capital's biggest hospital to avoid the highly contagious virus from getting into the population.

An older man visiting relatives in the region of the outbreak made it home to the capital before dying. All four of his brothers got infected at his funeral. Now four others that were involved with the funeral have been isolated.
Despite it’s terrifying reputation Ebola has only killed 1500 people in 40 years. Of course it never got established in a major population center, either.

Not good news, look for the numbers to climb if it
has reached a dense population, should be no flights
allowed to land at any airport from that destination.

I suggest we pay to ship those with the disease up north into the Mohammedan lands. At least they will not die in vain.

Pan_Yan :" ..Of course it never got established in a major population center, either." Well , it is now !! We know it's there, like knowing one tiger is in the forest, but that's different from being established. If the tiger has cubs, that's when you know it's a long-term threat. If Ebola continues to pop up in the capital even without a plausible human path between victims, that will be the perfect time to worry.

Yes it is a lot of people. I hope they are restricting air and other travel from this place.
I read on one of these threads the other day, that they have a confirmed case in Canada.
Does anyone know any more about the Canadian case?
