A reporter has been detained by Capitol Hill police for trying to ask a question of Environmental Protection Agency administrator Gina McCarthy.
Bloomberg BNA energy reporter Ari Natter tweeted about being detained.
#transparency RT @AriNatter: I am being detained by Capital Police for trying to ask @EPAGina a question after her remarks. nickjuliano (@nickjuliano) March 28, 2014 Natter was detained while covering the American Council On Renewable Energy conference, where McCarthy spoke. Also speaking at the conference was Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, a staunch supporter of green energy who regularly takes the Senate floor to sound the alarm on global warming.
McCarthy spoke about renewable energy issues, including the EPAs proposal to cut back the amount of ethanol refiners are required to blend into gasoline annually to avoid economic calamity. She also talked about the Obama administrations view that energy and environmental policy go hand in hand.
The energy issues and the environmental issues we are facing today are really two sides of the same coin, she said.
Natter was eventually let go after police checked with their superiors and ran a background check on the reporter, determining he had the proper press credentials.
After consulting with his superiors and running a background check the police have let me go. Ari Natter (@AriNatter) March 28, 2014 .@alexcguillen: Not the first time I have been threatened with arrest for doing my job as a reporter. Probably not the last either. If anyone at all takes away such credentials, say for such a misunderstanding as the current situation, will such a reporter be excluded from government-related news reporting for the duration? That would certainly further media corruption, eh? (Until the backlash finally hits, of course. :) )

Actually very good. The more media people are harassed, spied upon, repressed, shut down and shut up - the more they’ll wake up. Some will wake up, others not unless they’re frogmarched in front of the firing squad.
The press has cut their own throats by being so supine before BO. These guys better get used to this. Couldn’t happen to a better bunch. Like to see how they present this to the J school classes.
It has always baffled me that the press is so lock step in their gutless pandering to BO and Dems. Forget honor and integrity. I would have thought that mere ambition would have driven someone to dig a little deeper, to say something different just for the distinction of saying something different.
And it is not like the drive by media world is so universally financially successful. Mere financial survival would suggest that someone try to say something besides the party line, if for no other reason than to see a few more papers.
Thanks Army Air Corps
The list, Ping

They'd probably want to beat her Watermelon @ss.
Remember, the farmers needed to burn a lot of propane to dry their bumper corn crop this fall, so that the corn could be used to adulterate & screw up the gasoline supply.
This caused the propane shortage.
Thanks, Gina, you Elitist Commie b*tch!
I thought business men were the enemy of the EPA, looks like we will have to add reporters to the list.
Somebody needs an @ss-whipping for that one, too...

Thou shalt not question thy high priests of big government. Climate change deniers shall be detained.
I like her!
Call me a skeptic but my hunch is reporters will continue to kiss Obama arse and lick Obama boots every chance they get....even this one that got detained.
” determining he had the proper press credentials.”
A First Amendment License, like a Second Amendment License to Carry but for approved journalists.
He’s lucky he wasn’t a “blogger”, eh?
Absolutely, it should.
Speaking of chills, I wonder if Tim Robbins ever feels that chill wind blowing these days?
Drudge should go sometime and see what happens.
Not only will the mods come after you, but I will have the NSA show up at your doorstep if you don’t add me. And I’d suggest you keep your dog inside, if you get my drift :-)
And to make sure the lesson was learned, he'll receive an IRS audit.
OUTSTANDING! Welcome aboard!
“I very sincerely doubt that the percentage of EPA officials who could pass even a freshman level physics for poets course is above 1”
Actually, you are probably too kind in your estimate.
Out in Californicator aka LaLa land every eviro whacko considers them selves to be geniuses re science. Most can’t do basic math and have zero knowledge of physics or chemistry.
