A reporter has been detained by Capitol Hill police for trying to ask a question of Environmental Protection Agency administrator Gina McCarthy.
Bloomberg BNA energy reporter Ari Natter tweeted about being detained.
#transparency RT @AriNatter: I am being detained by Capital Police for trying to ask @EPAGina a question after her remarks. nickjuliano (@nickjuliano) March 28, 2014 Natter was detained while covering the American Council On Renewable Energy conference, where McCarthy spoke. Also speaking at the conference was Rhode Island Democratic Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse, a staunch supporter of green energy who regularly takes the Senate floor to sound the alarm on global warming.
McCarthy spoke about renewable energy issues, including the EPAs proposal to cut back the amount of ethanol refiners are required to blend into gasoline annually to avoid economic calamity. She also talked about the Obama administrations view that energy and environmental policy go hand in hand.
The energy issues and the environmental issues we are facing today are really two sides of the same coin, she said.
Natter was eventually let go after police checked with their superiors and ran a background check on the reporter, determining he had the proper press credentials.
After consulting with his superiors and running a background check the police have let me go. “After consulting with his superiors...”
They called his Mommie on him.
BTTT
No, No, No...the freedom of the press. This didn’t happen. She is lying.
And Georgiy Gongadze, a Ukrainian journalist, founder of a popular Internet newspaper Ukrayinska Pravda, wasn’t kidnapped and murdered in 2000.
Slippery slope...
That’ll teach him.
Gird your loins patriots. A nice little tussle might be just around the corner.
You know, unless the reporter actually assaulted or impeded this person (you know that they do this on occasion), I can honestly say that I would be every bit as angry about this if she worked for Greenpeace’s newsletter as I would be if she worked for the WSJ.
Papieren, Bitte! .................
(that is, he).
Ari, Ari,....Ari when are you ever going to learn? Little people do not question the kings court! I know that you as a reporter thought that you were just above the masses but,...what can we say? Try not to let this happen again. By the way, seen your dog lately?
Well come on, how dare this insect speak to a member of the Reich. Did Ms. Eva McCarthy immediately exclaim “It is speaking to me!”?
Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping!
To get onto The Nut-job Conspiracy Theory Ping List you must threaten to report me to the Mods if I don't add you to the list...
Dangerous times we are living in.
This incident, if they even have a single shred of ethics left, should send a chill down the spines of the liberal news media reporters, not a tingle up their legs.
For the list.
But it’s not a police state...
I very sincerely doubt that the percentage of EPA “officials” who could pass even a freshman level “physics for poets” course is above 1%.
The EPA is indeed a ship of fools.
And all members should be treated as such.
