A white, republican, conservative anti-communist, genuine un-Kerry Vietnam hero? I’m not holding my breath.
Well done, good and faithful servant!
Amen. Enter thou into the joy of thy Lord!
“I miss having heroes.”
That’s one of the saddest aspects of our country’s moral decline. We aren’t raising up brave men (and women) as we had. Not that there aren’t heroes in every generation, but they’ve become fewer and fewer.
Former Alabama Sen. Jeremiah Denton, Vietnam war hero, dies at age 89
Check out article and comments.
.
Or they’re not being recognized. Don’t despair
He was also against abortion for any reason at any time. He explained while on the Judiciary Committee that the word “abortion” in Navy parlance meant anything that was utterly abhorrent or unthinkable, worse than an atrocity. Probably purged from Navy vocab by now.
I’m too young to have served in Viet Nam, but old enough to have worn a POW bracelet that many of us wore back then as a sign of our support for our heros. The name on my bracelet is Captain Jeremiah Denton. I remember watching the broadcast live on a black and white TV as then Captain Denton was the very first POW to disembark the transport plane at Clark AFB on February 12, 1973. I was 14 years old. I still remember.
RIP to a true American hero.
Alabama ping.
My flags are going to half-mast as soon as I get home tonight.
In fact, I may head home right now to do it.
That bracelet is probably priceless. It’s a piece of history now.
Salute to Adm. Denton. Thank you for proving that true courage never dies.
Adm. Denton also served as President of the Citadel if I recall correctly.
I think that it would be preferable for this P.O.S. president to keep his marxist attention away from any and all of the services and ceremonies for this great American hero. It would only be for photo ops and publicity anyway.
As I recall he was Senior Officer of the POWs.
We all must gird our loins because any minute now we will have the Official Comments from Senator John McCain, a fellow POW who also USED to serve in the Senate (now he just trolls it for media attention.)
Remember him very well....he was loved by a great many people here...
bttt
RIP great patriot! He was one of the very best.
RIP Admiral Denton. Go with God, sir.
I was honored to meet Admiral and Mrs. Denton and their son, Billy, in the mid-70’s and help them pack their car for their return trip home to Theodore, Alabama. Later, I was given the book, “When Hell Was in Session” along with a family photo. They were truly humble, generous, and courageous people. Another giant among mankind has left the earth.
Ping to fellow Alabamians. We have lost a true hero.
Thank you, Bamahead, for calling my attention to the thread. I’m still on the other side of the world and was sleeping.
