A research team at University of Western Australia also believes the cabin is in once piece, improving the chances the black box could be found.
Scientists believe they know where Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 crashed into the ocean and that the cabin sank in one piece. The research by the University of Western Australia, using meteorological and ocean-current data alongside the British analysis from data pings recorded by UK firm Inmarsat, has determined the point of impact and the movements of debris in the weeks following the crash.
A fresh satellite sighting of 300 floating objects ranging in size from seven to 49 feet about 1,680 miles from Perth in the southern Indian Ocean was reported by Thailand yesterday, tallying with previous sightings by French and Chinese satellites. Thai satellite images show objects about 120 miles from a debris field of 122 objects captured by a French satellite on Sunday.
Professor Charitha Pattiaratchi, the scientist who oversaw the research, said that a failure to spot buoyant objects that originated inside the plane indicated that the cabin probably remained intact as it sank into the sea. This would improve the chances that the black box survived without significant damage in the depths below the crash site.
I think the way the plane crashed, a lot of the debris has been kept intact inside the plane, said Professor Charitha Pattiaratchi, from the universitys oceans institute. If the plane broke up, we should see a lot more debris floating around. We should have seen smaller bits of lifejacket and seats, things which are going to float.

Boffins. Usually these UK papers all them boffins.
Just out: Like other airlines, Malaysian Airlines gave this aircraft a name. It is called ‘Waldo’.
Th black box usually isn’t in the cabin. Not sure about 777 but IIRC most BB equipment is located toward the tail because that has a better chance of surviving impact.
Scientists believe in global warming too...
Just sayin’.
They don't seem to have enough ships in the area.
Planes can't stay in the area or pick things out of the water.
If a plane can get a photo by today's standards, you would know what it was since the aerial photos are so detailed.
All they have are satellite photos from over a hundred miles away.
Photos from aircraft hundreds of feet away would be very clear and could be greatly enlarged.
Let hope they get some soon.-tom
If this is true wouldn’t that mean there are probably human remains inside the cabin?
It would seem so ...
And how would he know the way the plane crashed??? Was he there???
He's just another attention-seeker vying for his 15 minutes ...
oops time's up ... move along ... next.
Bull
Another reporter who thinks he / she knows something about airplanes.
1. The "black boxes" [flight data and voice recorders] are actually a bright orange.
2. They are located in the tail section of the aircraft, as that is the most likely part to survive a crash intact.
“And how would he know the way the plane crashed???”
_____________________________________________________
He is assuming that it was a controlled crash. Considering the other clues and facts, this is quite likely.
Planet Earth ?
He’s saying that if the cabin remained intact, then there would not have been a situation where the black box would have been damaged either. In other words, there’s not the type of conditions in the crash where it — too — would have been damaged.
The article did not say anything about the color of the black box. Also, the article did not say anything about the location of the black box, inside the plane.
You’re simply “reading that INTO the article” from your misreading of the article.
And what would those other clues and facts be???
