Sen. Rand Paul has become the first Republican to assemble a network in all 50 states as a precursor to a 2016 presidential run, the latest sign that he is looking to build a more mainstream coalition than the largely ad hoc one that backed his fathers unsuccessful campaigns.
Pauls move, which comes nearly two years before the 2016 primaries, also signals an effort to win the confidence of skeptical members of the Republican establishment, many of whom doubt that his appeal will translate beyond the libertarian base that was attracted to Ron Paul, the former Texas congressman.
Rand Pauls nationwide organization, which counts more than 200 people, includes new backers who have previously funded more traditional Republicans, along with longtime libertarian activists. Paul, of Kentucky, has also been courting Wall Street titans and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs who donated to the presidential campaigns of George W. Bush and Mitt Romney, attending elite conclaves in Utah and elsewhere along with other GOP hopefuls.
For the rest of this year, his national teams chief duties will be to take the lead in their respective states in planning fundraisers and meet-ups and helping Pauls Washington-based advisers get a sense of where support is solid and where its not. This is especially important in key early primary battlegrounds, such as Iowa and New Hampshire, and in areas rich in GOP donors, such as Dallas and Chicago.

You’d have never heard of Rand Paul, unless you needed glasses in a certain Kentucky locality, without Ron Paul. Just as Dubya would probably be a grocery store assistant manager without his father.
I agree to agree with you. At this point I really do not have a first choice. I just know my first choice ain’t my governor. Chris Christie.
Anybody objecting to anything is now an Alinski tactic.
Mockery, which is thousands of years old is now an Alinsky tactic.
Seems that Alinsky is mucho powerful. Reaching far back into time and history.
If I wanted a kook in the White House, I’d probably opt for Dennis Kucinich. At least he’s honest about what he believes in and doesn’t hide his intentions. Plus, have you seen his wife?
No.
Is she worthy of Alinsky mockery?
Because he invented that stuff, you know...
Mrs. Kucinich
I’d hit it.
“Sen. Rand Paul has become the first Republican to assemble a network in all 50 states as a precursor to a 2016 presidential run,”
He is disenfranchising the other 7 states, so he is not the man for the job.
Hawk Girl.
Rand Paul is going to need more than his elevator shoes to convince a skeptical 2017 congress to pass amnesty for him.
Actually it’s the opposite of Romney. Romney already had the GOP-e locked up, so he pretended to be “severely conservative” to attract enough conservatives to win. Sounds like Paul is doing just the opposite, showing the GOP-e that he can be a “team player” while keeping the Paulistas on board.
Why are you posting like an adult with logical and rational thinking?
Your choices exactly parallel mine...so you must be very intelligent haha.
His kookie dad’s network?
Yep. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, even Rick Perry. All good decent Patriotic Americans. I would vote for any of the three.
I am with you - I could vote for any of the three. Duck and cover though - the long knives will be out for Paul and Perry around here. I am praying conservatives will drop the all or nothing mentality that has given the RINO’s the edge in the primaries.
FWIW - Cruz is the one I like best, but I think Perry and Paul both bring some benefit to the table. Americans like successful Governors and Paul plays well with young independents. In an ideal world, two of these three will be on the ticket.
Your memory must be mistaken. Romney never reached out to conservatives. Not even lip service. He counted on independents, moderates and RINO’s.
Why do you think millions of conservatives stayed home?
Because he NEVER reached out to conservatives.
And that is why millions stayed home.
“Disgruntled Dems and Independents I know would jump at the chance to vote for Paul.”
Good...then Paul should run AS A LIBERTARIAN WHICH IS WHAT HE IS AND NOT AS A REPUBLICAN! That damnable fool should STAY OUT of the GOP primary.
“Rand Paul wouldnt be my preferred candidate but if it comes down to him or the GOPe candidate, Im voting for Paul.”
IF either Rand Paul or a GOP establishment candidate get the GOP nod...I will not vote for either. Both are bad ideas that I will not help put in office. I will probably just sit out...for the first time...the 2016 general election.
