Sen. Rand Paul has become the first Republican to assemble a network in all 50 states as a precursor to a 2016 presidential run, the latest sign that he is looking to build a more mainstream coalition than the largely ad hoc one that backed his fathers unsuccessful campaigns.
Pauls move, which comes nearly two years before the 2016 primaries, also signals an effort to win the confidence of skeptical members of the Republican establishment, many of whom doubt that his appeal will translate beyond the libertarian base that was attracted to Ron Paul, the former Texas congressman.
Rand Pauls nationwide organization, which counts more than 200 people, includes new backers who have previously funded more traditional Republicans, along with longtime libertarian activists. Paul, of Kentucky, has also been courting Wall Street titans and Silicon Valley entrepreneurs who donated to the presidential campaigns of George W. Bush and Mitt Romney, attending elite conclaves in Utah and elsewhere along with other GOP hopefuls.
For the rest of this year, his national teams chief duties will be to take the lead in their respective states in planning fundraisers and meet-ups and helping Pauls Washington-based advisers get a sense of where support is solid and where its not. This is especially important in key early primary battlegrounds, such as Iowa and New Hampshire, and in areas rich in GOP donors, such as Dallas and Chicago.

Draft Ron Paul!
We need Ron Paul and Rand Paul to both run. That way, we can hear about how much they differ on things, and why voting for Rand isn’t the same as voting for Ron.
Ron Paul has run in every election since Carter. No reason to stop now!
Here in Indiana, I have a hard time getting interested in the election for President.
We don’t have a primary until May, so we never get much choice in choosing a candidate.
We aren’t really a swing state, so no activity happens here before then election.
We are totally at the whim of who other states choose and vote for.
Yep. Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, even Rick Perry. All good decent Patriotic Americans. I would vote for any of the three. We have to keep Jeb or Crispy out at all costs.
Destroy the guy? Where in my post did I attack him? I simply said that
he is following the same strategy that Romney and McCain did. How did that strategy turn out? Learn to either read better or comprehend better.
I agree. We MUST have a fighter on the ticket. Someone not afraid to take on Hillary.
In elections in which we couldn't win in 2008, and couldn't lose in 2012, Romney managed to be the first candidate in history to win the Independents "hugely", yet lose the election.
Rand's coming out against conservatism and the base, could duplicate Romney's failure.
Wonder what position she'll occupy?
Looks like she will support Ron Paul. But he ain’t running, so she needs to get her facts straight.
Lots of lo info people out there.
I don’t know about that, but there’s nothing stopping Ron Paul from running again! Why would he not?
Could you imagine he and Rand going at it in a debate, explaining their disagreements? They could eloquently explain to us their major policy differences!
Run, Ron Paul, run!!!!
I doubt Ron Paul is running.
A) How do you know he’s not running? He’s run every election cycle since his boy was in short pants. (B) You don’t think she won’t transfer her “loyalty” over to junior? (C) Do you think that Jewish people and their allies aren’t aware of the father’s stance on everything Jewish, Israel and Zionism?
So the people who supported GHWB 41 didn’t support GWB 43? Because I remember it a little differently...
I have no idea who is going to run. Her sign says RON PAUL. Not Rand Paul. Frankly, I have not worried about who is running in 2016. Too early yet. I am not into the savaging of potentials at this time. I think my choice could be better than what some folks slavishly think is solid here or anywhere else.
Besides, I live in Indiana. i don’t get to choose the candidate and we are not a state that matters in a national election. We are not considered a swing state. Find someone else to hound.
I don’t know, Alinsky tactics don’t work on me because I don’t care.
Is vicious truthing now an Alinsky tactic?
Yeah sure whatever I don’t care.
I think the sign says Ron not Rand. :-)
“There are plenty of things I disagree with him about but thar’s true of pretty much everybody”.
You are right. I sometimes even disagree with you. But then again I sometimes do agree with you. I hope that is clear.
Rand Paul wouldn’t be my preferred candidate but if it comes down to him or the GOPe candidate, I’m voting for Paul.
